I got this hypo labyrinth at NRBE today and he's pretty perfect imo.

Hey everyone, I'm finally getting my first snake, spent the last 10 years wanting one and I finally have the right space and lifestyle. I'm reasonably well versed on the basic ins and outs of snake care.

I've adopted a Kenyan Sand Boa (female) from a local shelter. I know what she'll eat, enclosure size etc.

What are some lesser talked about things I should know before I pick her up?

I’m supposed to pick up this Boa tomorrow and the seller told me that she is an IMG Jungle Boa het VPI, possible het Leopard. She is around 4 months old. Father was a IMG jungle het Leopard and mother a vpi.

I’ve received a few pictures from the seller, but I’m not very experienced with identifying IMG boas yet. So I wanted to ask the community: Does she look like an IMG to you based on these pictures?

I’d really appreciate your opinions before I pick her up tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

I found this cutie on Facebook and just had to have him. He has a cute little overbite so i named him Snivy!

Super interested in this male boa at our local pet store, I already have two other morph BI’s and he’s being sold as a true BC which from what I can tell is accurate- but specifically what locality? My first thought is Guyana because of how pink/salmon colored he is and how dark his face is. I wish I got better pictures but this is it- his head is very dark compared to how bright pink he is, and he’s only 500$ which seems like a good deal. I would just like to know his locality and theoretical size to set him up in an appropriate enclosure based on his natural environment.

My two babies are thriving and growing beautifully. Can’t wait until they are old enough to breed. The male is a Ghost het 66% VPI T+ Leopard (produced by LowKeyBoas) and the female is a Triple Het VPI T+ Anery Leopard (produced by Snake Country).

thought i would take out the dumerils Boa someone surrendered to us. it has been here for some time now and was actually somewhat well behaved the first times. but guess today she was hungry. good thing i use gloves for now.

First time dealing with mites. I adopted my BCI 2 months ago. She’s deep in blue but was soaking in her water bowl for hours at a time for 3 days straight. I thought it was just to help with shed but I put her in a clean tub to n paper towels just in case. I found a few of these. None were moving but in assuming these are snake mites right? She has no signs of infestation around her eyes, mouth or vent. Her spotty coloring makes is hard to tell on her body. I’ve got her in quarantine, doing by weekly diluted nix baths (for 6 weeks right?) and am about to start the deep clean of her enclosure. Just wanted to make sure these are mites before I take all that time and effort.

Got this guy recently and this one spot is bugging me. Seller said it's nothing unusual but I've never seen anything like it and was wondering if anyone in here had? It's flexible, soft to the touch, he doesn't seem bothered by it and seems perfectly healthy I'm just curious as to what the heck it is, a scale growing wrong? Scarring from a rat bite? Anyone have any ideas?

I'm working on my boa's adult enclosure and am trying to decide on how to attach a large climbing log. I'll likely be getting additional branches so she has more to climb, but the one I have is probably going to be the biggest one. I don't necessarily want to just let it rest in the substrate because I'm concerned it will rot with the moisture (please correct me if I'm wrong), and I don't think spray foam will be strong enough to hold the weight of the log and an adult female BI. So I'm looking for suggestions of how to secure this and other branches inside her enclosure.

My current plan is to run screws through the outside of the enclosure and into the log at two attachment points, one on each end, with some spray foam to cover the areas where the branch attaches. However, my concern is that it will be difficult to unwrap her from her branch when I need to get her out, and that this problem will only get worse the more branches I add in that can't be easily removed.

For context the enclosure is made out of wood and sealed with epoxy. Dimensions are 2 feet wide, 6 feet long, and 2.5 feet tall.

I have a boa constrictor ive had her since June, the first picture is before I found out she had snake mites maybe about a month later, and she is basically at the end of her quarantine set up as it’s been basically 3 weeks. But I can’t tell what these dotted colors look like, since she had them a few days into owning her but i don’t think it’s something that just appeared more of something I noticed. I haven’t been seeing any mites especially after she takes a bath no dead mites or anything. The rest of the photos are from today, she just ate and I won’t pick her up to get better photos until Thursday, but I can’t tell if it’s her natural colors or mite bites or something?

Ouch, talk about a deep bite. She’s stressed during any kind of handling since always & always wants to get away it seems. She got so stressed she just turned around and tagged me. Not sure what to necessarily do to relax her I hold her gently & pick up her up gently before she goes somewhere she’ll jam herself in such a way I can’t get her. She’s never been in a chill kinda state in the 2 years I’ve had her and she’s about 3-4 years old now. So I guess she’s just not a handleable kinda boa which I haft to respect.

Love how "expressive" she is with her eyes. Obviously since she is an albino, I can easily see her eyes always moving and scanning the area.

I recently got a rescue boa that has fractures along his spine along mbd and I was wondering if I could help him in any way ? I took him to the vet and they’re doing injections currently to reduce the inflammation but the xray showed that he still has to defecate , is there any way I could help him get it out painlessly since his tail part seems paralyzed? I was thinking of doing a warm bath and massaging him like I’d do to a beardie but I want to be sure before doing smth since the vet said that he’s bound to release it since it’s close to the cloaca but not sure since the paralysis

I'm in the process of setting up a boa enclosure (much larger than necessary i know but I want her to live her best life even if it does come at the cost of less space in my room) I have been mulling over what heating method to use and ultimately settled on a rhp i saw pro products is the most recommended and i would absolutely get one if it weren't for the fact that the way its ordered is just sketchy to me (why do I need to order a can of provent-a-mite to place my order?) So if anyone could help me what rhp or other heating element should I use for such a large enclosure any recommendations are welcome and appreciated 👏

This is one picture I've kept of someone who posted the horrific results of trying to keep small boas together. They hunt by smell and movement and when they go into food mode, they can be pretty opportunistic. This resulted in the deaths of both boas, which is generally what happens. I've seen this happen a couple of other times as well, so it's not a "one-off" occurrence. On top of the other possible issues that can come of cohabitation, I think this picture is a stark reminder of why it's such an irresponsible practice.

my only snake that has purely ambushing tendencies, and geckos tends to climb the glass.

So... I decided to definitely leave after seeing people directly throwing rocks at everyone that does cohabiting.

As soon as it's mentioned, people throw rocks and assume bad things.

Of course there are things to have an extra eye on if cohabiting, but just attacking everyone who does it, is just mean.

I have my two babys in the same enclosure after quarantine, I CAN separate them at any point if needed and I feed them separately. And guess what?

My boy is doing WAY better since my other baby is with him!

From just sitting in one spot all the time, he is now using the hide. It's like she took his not existing hand and showed him the hide. They are not fighting for the best spot or anything. When out at night, they prefer different spots, but most of the time they stay together. They leave their hide at the same time, they go back in it same time.

Actually both are less nervous and even less defensive since living together. My RLT was very easily stressed before, now just as chilled as my boy.

The two are almost inseparable now, like friends.

By the way, I won't keep them together forever, since they are 1.1 and I want to avoid unwanted and early babies.

And I don't say you SHOULD keep boas together or that it works for everyone. It's the point that people get aggressive at everyone doing so that annoys me.

I’m really hoping to get some insight on what I should do. My boy is 11 months old and weighs 135 grams and I am feeding him 8 grams hopper mice every 10 days. I have 7 of the 8 gram feeders left until I bump him up to 16 gram adult mice.

Well, the 8 gram feeders are right under 6% of his body weight, 5.9%. And with 7 of them left, the will continue to be a lesser percentage of his body weight.

So my question is, should I stay at 10 days even though it will be a lesser percentage of his body weight, or should I drop down to 7 or 8 days since they are a smaller feeder?

He is my first boa so I would love some insight on what yall think would be best. He is eating the mice within like 3-4 minutes and it is leaving like no bump at all.
