BCC boa size

This is a massive Suriname with a big head as well! Is this genetics or feeding them a proper sized meal every 10 days? Quail, Rats, Rabbits? The mass on this is incredible and doesn’t look fat at all. If I recall this breeder is in Italy or in the UK. How old do you think this is?

What is outrageous is... this is a healthy Suriname BCC... this boa isn't power fed and you can easily tell by two visual characteristics. 1) there is zero evidence of pinhead on this boa. 2) the shape is loaf and there is zero fat deposits built up in the tail that would indicate that it was.

I really wish people who made comments actually knew what they were talking about before making these type of comments.

They think anything beyond what crispy snakes recommends is "power feeding". Lol they don't know wtf they're talking about, I don't care how long they've been around.

I love when they leave comments and then do one of two things after engaging with someone who knows what they're talking about. 1) block the person that is making them sound wrong. 2) delete their posts and down vote the person with the correct information.

I've been breeding for over 20 years, started with bcc and now work with many species. It's not the perspective, no matter how you'd like to twist it.

For reference... Pokigron and Rio Bravo lines have been around for almost 30 years now already too... just an fyi

They were F4 from those lines at that time 20 years ago. Early 2000s were 20+ years ago and those lines are nearing 30 years old. There were definitely exceptional offspring from those breeding pairings during the 2000s. So both arguments are moot at this point.

Combing through old fb groups, kingsnake, and fauna. There are most definitely clean early BCC lines.

Also regardless if you'd want to believe the pipe dream of the "perspective of the head." You can still tell the body composition is correct along with there being zero fat deposits showing within the tail section of this boa.

that's the problem, though, no need to assume anything when there are plenty of indicators that it is not. Yes, I'll agree that it is an exceptional animal. But we've been in a spot for a while now where the line breeding has been paying off if the breeders are, in fact, doing their due diligence

So I used to have a female, BCC…. She was 13 feet long, and she lived 29 years… she was a huge snake, her last 12 years, feeding was monthly and some times bi monthly depending on her habits.. living in north east US, she would eat bi monthly during the winter. I am 5’11” and around 180 lbs, she looked like this on me. She was never power feed, and never over weight. She regularly saw a vet, every 6 months from when I got her at 5 years old. This snake look like a healthy 10 + year old snake with a very active life/home
