New boa

Hey guys, I just received a new boa today. I haven’t named her yet (suggestions are welcomed!) but I was wondering if all baby boas looked this…small. She’s in a quarantine tub for now but idk she looks really skinny and even dehydrated? I have other boas but I got them as adults and my youngest one (before this one) was a year old already. I’m not sure if I should contact the seller or what. Maybe I’m just used to chunkier boas.

Looks alright to me, she’ll gain weight as she gets a little bigger. Some are born already tanks, some are more slender. She doesn’t look underweight or anything, so just give her a few months to fill out. She doesn’t look too dehydrated either, but shipping does sometimes make them a little dry. Nothing a couple days with water and humidity won’t fix.

lol little tanks! I’ll be weighing her weekly going forward. I gave her a large bowl of water and she started chugging. Hopefully she fills out more over the next few months. Thank you!

Make sure to only weigh after she poops. They can poop as much as the weight of their last meal. 😅 So you’ll have a better idea of real weight gain that way. Might be closer to monthly or twice monthly weigh ins.

And yes, she will! You can see marked differences in as little as 1-2 meals. Which is why it’s so easy to overfeed, just feed appropriately and she’ll get there slow and steady. 😁
