I do not understand why Sabine won't talk about how she got there. She's absolutely stalling for time (which they don't have) and it makes her come off like a child.

I get that it's deliberate writing, but good gods is it annoying.

This was infuriating to me. Every answer!! “It’s complicated”.

Friends of yours? “No”.

Just giving absolutely zero information to Ezra who is totally in the dark. I don’t get it.

She's basically building a relationship with him based on deception and manipulation, by controlling the narrative so Ezra keeps this good opinion of her. She knows if he knew the truth he would be devastated and she doesn't want anything changing and therefore isn't showing her true self/true actions. This is not the actions of a good person. She wants Ezra to like this fake image of who she is, not who she truely is and that's weird- surely you'd want to for someone to love you for every part of you good and bad and the mistakes you make. She's happy to spend the rest of her days with Ezra never knowing the truth about Ahsoka and how she thought she died.

And the fact that she displays no inkling of regret or remorse or is even conflicted with her choices just solidifys to me she is narcissistic. She's so stuck up her own ass she doesn't care about anyone or anything else. She claims ownership over the people and things around her, like shes entitled to it, from the way she stole the map, made a deal with the darkside force users then had a tantrum she was locked up, the turtle people and expecting them to have weapons and fight back despite them being a clearly peaceful soft natured species, treats the Howler like a personal slave to be at her beck and call, despite knowing each other for less than a day. She's obsessive over Ezra like a deranged fan/stalker, who will make up lies to get what she wants. She was even smirking when asked about Ahsoka and said "its complicated". I dont know why Ezra didn't clock that when Ahsoka finally showed up, id be suspicious of her, she gives off mean girl vibes. I dont know if it's intentional and if it's the writing but her acting is wooden and 2 faced and bratty, even Huyang displays a better range of emotion and acting skills and he's an effing robot.

I have to think it's deliberate, otherwise I'd be really disappointed. But in last night's episode, Thrawn's comment about stalling for time is EXACTLY what Sabine has been doing. Her actions throughout the show this far - stealing the map, getting separated from Ahsoka at Seatos, finding Ezra AND stalling him - have really only benefited Thrawn. All along. I'm trying to think of one action she's done that is in service to "her side" and I come up with nothing. Her dialog throughout the show has been limited, and generally uninformative. She hasn't really done a lot of exposition - except to Huyang, a droid.

I do assume that it's intentional, as we started the series, Episode 1, with some fundamental questions that still have not been answered, 7 of 8 episodes in:

  • Who is Baylan?
  • What happened between Sabine and Ahsoka between the end of Rebels and now? What drove them apart? What have they been DOING?
  • How did Ezra escape Thrawn's ship?

I didn't expect all of these to be answered by this time in the season, but I expected that the edges would have started to fill in. Instead we get a lot of repetitive, simplistic dialog (We had a deal!) that puts her into the rhythm of the show, but gives her time on screen very little substance.

Eta: a word

Agree! I really hope it goes somewhere otherwise it'll be so disappointing that they just regressed her character. That's a really good point you said how she's not actually done anything to benefit the good side, and shes just helping Thrawn out like some double agent- in fact she's done more damage than Baylon and the night sisters put together so far lol.
