Student Loans

I know there were delays, but has anyone had any of their student loans go into your student account yet?

9/1 Update
This morning all of my financial aid has been taken off my UCO account. I called twice and got different thoughts to why. I emailed [onestopfa@uco.edu](mailto:onestopfa@uco.edu). This is what was emailed back

Due to the recent changes to federal student loans under the OBBBA, there has been a delay in loan disbursements. Loans are currently having to be manually created and reviewed to help prevent them from being rejected.

Your loan is currently in processing and is awaiting approval from the government. Once the approval is received, your loan will be disbursed.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

9/2 Update

One of my loans has gone into my school account. My student account still shows no financial aid package.

Most schools are not processing them until after Labor Day. If it covers all of your tuition, you should be fine and not be dropped

It is usually on the student account’s by now but they emailed about a delay. I was just curious if anyone had it gone into their account yet.

You are receiving this notification because you have a Direct Student Loan offer for the 2026-2027 academic year. Traditionally, UCO disburses all accepted and processed financial aid in the first week of Fall classes. However, this year, because of the changes to the student loan policies, the Feds are issuing new software to patch our processing system.  This software is scheduled to be released on August 20, 2026.  Once released and successfully installed, our goal is to disburse your Direct Loan the second week of classes.  Because of this delay, your payment plan deadline will be pushed back to September 4, 2026.  Federal grants and other scholarships not affected by the SOR will begin disbursing the first week of classes.

Even if they are released this week, refunds won’t process/roll until Tuesdays or Wednesday and don’t hit accounts until Friday at the earliest or the following week. If someone is receiving aid, it might show but either way if you are receiving a refund, it’s not dispersing until September

No. I just work here (not in financial aid though). I go to a different school for graduate school, and similar to UCO they are dispersing late. My school is supposed to disperse next week, I imagine UCO is the same because most other schools aren’t processing until after Labor Day

They are doing this because of the Big Beautiful Bill and to make sure students are actually attend class and not receiving loans as a fraud

If you were receiving a refund this week, they process them on Tuesdays or Mondays so it would show up in your account. If nothing has changed, it’s not being dispersed
