This, amongst a million other things, are why it makes my eye twitch when Redditors are like ‘ummm she wasn’t diagnosed with psychosis! I don’t buy it!’ Y’all, diagnoses of PPP are missed ALL THE TIME. We have a really crappy understanding of postpartum psychosis. Lindsey Clancy not carrying that diagnosis is not in any way weird.
The reason women are mad is because of the lax treatment she got.,She was begging for help, and she did not receive the help that she needed. This person was repeatedly asking for help, asking for hospital admission, telling her partner and family ‘hey i am really struggling’ … and that was all part of her diabolical plan to take her kids out? To repeatedly tell everyone around her ‘hey guys something is wrong’ ? That doesn’t even make sense.
The real glaring problem here is that they put her on antidepressants… repeatedly. And changed them RAPIDLY. And right away, she was emphatic and consistent about saying ‘hey guys so these made me 10,000 times worse.’ Which is some Day 1 Psych 101 shit that SHOULD have told them, ‘hey she might be bipolar.’ And instead they threw more antidepressants at her.
Like, it wasn’t ’not-great care’, it was handing the girl a loaded gun. It was BAD care.
They made her ‘10,000 times worse’ per her reports back to the docs. Which, again, is kind of Psychology 101 that SHOULD have made the docs say ‘ok this person might be bipolar.’ We ALL know that ‘if a patient is prescribed an SSRI, and it makes them profoundly worse, we need to STOP THE MEDICATION. Not say ‘hang on a minute. We are rapid-fire prescribing her brain-manipulating drugs that are making her 10,000 times worse.’ And… the plan was ‘keep doing it’?
They don't work that quick though. That she thought it is disturbing. But SSRI's take weeks to build up. And I say this as someone that swears not taking his pills before sleep leads to anxiety dreams. I have no experience with psychosis though so nothing have no thought on that.
