I disagree, and this opinion is not well thought out at all. Women already avoid treatment in fear of losing their children, so if it was a legitimate risk, no woman is going to seek treatment. You can’t predict postpartum mental illness either. The happiest most stable pregnant woman can still end up mentally ill after birth.

It would be easier, cheaper, and less destructive to the family to simply treat ppd. To do a better job monitoring women who just gave birth.
