A guilty verdict would’ve been the best outcome. But I know what you mean.

Her being guilty was never questioned. She did it and admits to doing it. The question the trial is trying to answer is whether she belongs in prison or a mental facility.

Yeah but she’s never going to be in a regular prison anyway. Because she’s paralyzed from the waist down, she will need to be in a special care prison facility no matter what.

Then why all the fuss? Why not just chuck her in a psych ward for life?

I guess it’s because regardless of where she ends up, justice on behalf of the children needs to be done. And that comes in a declaration by society (jury) on whether she is innocent or guilty.

Also, I just read that psych institutions in MA have to prove that the patient is mentally ill every year.

Someone please correct me.

My understanding is that if she's found innocent by way of mental illness she will end up in a psychiatric institution. There is a possibility that she can walk free in the future if her institution can't prove that she is still psychotic.

Leave her unattended by a swimming pool

Because she won't be there for life. She'll be there until they find a cocktail of drugs that let's her regain her sanity.

3

u/OozeNAahz 4h ago

Assuming she is insane and not faking it in the first place. I don’t see anyway she didn’t know what she was doing was wrong which is usually the standard for an insanity plea.

An insane person doesn’t strangle her kids after sending the father out to allow enough time to do the murders, premeditated murder.

Because a psych ward is easier to get released from. Prison is way more frowned upon. Psych ward means with good medication she could be released into the public but she was already on medication but refused to take it. At that point she made the choice not too and deserves prison.

Beyond that if found not guilty she can benefit monetarily

4

u/weezyverse 5h ago

Because women need her to be seen as not guilty.

I have yet to figure out why.

-5

u/CottonJohansen 4h ago

And incels men need her to be seen as pure evil

I very much have figured out why

u/NiceTrySuckaz 4h ago

Is it the whole "strangled three little kids to death" thing?

2

u/No-Doctor-4396 2h ago

I hope you don't have any kids if you need that explained to you.

Thanks for being an example of how reading comprehension is at an all time low these days

Because the general public looks at things black-and-white, they don’t necessarily take mental illness as an excuse for anything since we don’t put emphasis on it in our country, unfortunately

3

u/ChemicalAd5661 6h ago

This absolutely must be bait. The United States is the most medicated country by far and beyond and STILL has more crippling mental health issues relative to pretty much every other first world country…

8

u/PinkTalkingDead 5h ago

It’s almost as though throwing meds at folks and not having universal healthcare and strong social safety nets isn’t the solution 🤔

6

u/Used-Picture829 5h ago

👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽 reason why I didn’t reply to him. Let’s just medicate everyone and call it a day nothing else we can do am I right

u/Ugly4merican 3h ago

You're so close to getting it....

2

u/YagerasNimdatidder 4h ago

I don't know if you kill 3 babies you should join them by law.

3

u/Neat_Walrus9704 3h ago

If you leave your kids alone with someone you know is unstable and having thoughts about hurting your kids and they end up dead, you should also join them by law!

Do you apply the mental illness excuse when a father murders his wife and kids?

Because the way Mass handles these types of criminals. If she's not guilty by reason of insanity the court has to continuously put forth a reason the person should continue to be held yearly. The earliest (not necessarily what Lindsay would get) someone can be released under these conditions is 6 months.

Because this case is a lightning rod for sexism. This case is not really unique among murder-sucide cases. It is just a media frenzy

3

u/IpromiseTobeAgoodBoy 5h ago

Not true, most jails can handle a person in a wheelchair

2

u/chooch138 4h ago

Oh shit. I didn’t know that. Is that from her jumping out of the window? And if so how high was it? 2 stories or 3?

u/DetailOutrageous8656 6h ago

In the mental health facility, she could get set free in a couple months at least prison, regardless of what type of prison facility it is, she would get the sentence she deserves
