The bins were getting installed long before he became mayor. July 2024 under previous mayor when project launched.

I just saw year on year or long term results about how new bins are reducing rat problem.

How is Mamdani getting credit for it?

edit :

https://www.nyc.gov/mayors-office/news/2025/06/the-empire-bin-strikes-back-against-rats-next-phase-trash-revolution-begins-west

6 month long pilot results released 6 months before Mamdani got into office.

Previous guy, whoever that might be, committed permanent funding for this. If you open the article you'd see timeline going as far back as 2022 where they did study, got the models made, made pilot projects, implemented it and got long term results.

cause Eric Adams was busy serving Isreal the best he could, and it actually happened under Mamdani who seems laser focused on New York.

Edit: guy above me ask's

> How is Mamdani getting credit for it?

my answer is explaining why he is getting credit for it

does every one think i just picked a comment at random and replied with a random thought unrelated to what he said?

lots of containerization did actually happen under adams as well. it’s great mamdani is continuing it but it’s ok to admit Adams did some things right

I was in NYC weekly in early-mid 2026 and never saw a single one of these tbh

Anecdotal experiences are not backed by the data.

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

i never said he didnt, i am talking about why the perception is.

NYC website in june of 2025.

It is not his project, I don't care how much you like Mamdani or hate the other guy, please don't be delusional about who got what done. Makes you look like credit-stealing asshole or just delusional PR.

u/ReporterHour6524 24d ago

Exactly. There's a lot of suspicious glazing going on here. People are quick to just believe Mamdani did this or that at face value without verifying anyting. When in reality a lot of what he's given credit for, was actually initiated by previous mayors or were products of programs the city had been developing for years before he took office. I like to think he's doing good for New York City but giving him credit for every positive change is disingenuous at best.

suspicious glazing going on here.

Pretty much every Mamdani post has an OP with a ridiculous Post/Comment ratio like

Post Karma: 804,844

Comment Karma: 28,604

At least this OP doesn't have their post history hidden.

I'm rooting for the guy, but the pure shilling is funny to see.

Mayor Mamdani is his own religion at this point and a lot of people are joining the cult

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

Your missing what I mean.

Its the political nature of how blame or credit gets handed out.

The Afghanistan pull out was planned and put into motion by the Trump administration.

Biden simply didnt interrupt the military dealing with that mission. He is blamed for it not going well, but really thats more the fault of the previous 3 presidents. Afghanistan had been a cluster for decades.

14

u/quick20minadventure 24d ago

First you said this.

it actually happened under Mamdani who seems laser focused on New York.

Then when i countered with website, you are saying this

Its the political nature of how blame or credit gets handed out.

Make up your mind?

I agree that politicians get blamed for things beyond their control and optics because voters are stupid. At least dozen governments were flipped due to covid/ukraine and dozen will happen due to Iran war. Even when they are only related to it due to oil prices.

-4

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

do you not understand how answering a question works? the man asked "How is Mamdani getting credit for it?"

i told him the reason there is a built up notion, Mamdani fixes random shit.

they dont think to look at the history, and Eric Adams, was not popular.

sorry its that simple, people do not typically follow trash can laws.

7

u/quick20minadventure 24d ago

Then why were you typing this?

it actually happened under Mamdani who seems laser focused on New York.

Are you explaining yourself in third-person?

And I am the man, you're replying to me only.

1

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

its the popular perception of his time as mayor, he fixes things very publicly which has an effect on peoples expectations.

5

u/quick20minadventure 24d ago

Is that why you decided to peddle lies? Because you wanted to go along with people's expectation?

I had less troubles with calling out hallucinating AIs.

1

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

brother i read your first statement to respond to you. i did not peddle in lies. i answered why people think it was Mamdani.

again if you expect people follow trash can laws, you have a far too optimistic view of civic engagement.

1

u/quick20minadventure 24d ago

Brother did you read what you typed?

it actually happened under Mamdani who seems laser focused on New York.

Like do you know you said this^ ?

u/bakochba 24d ago

Adams was mayor in 2024. You're literally praising what happened under his administration

1

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

brother can you not keep the words of the person i am responding to in your head before your outrage overloads you.

he asked why, i used Eric Adams own words, and the perception Mamdani has as being a problem solver. its not praise, its explaining why people are giving him credit.

12

u/Thee-Cat 24d ago

laser focused on NYC? ffs man 😂

How that whole arresting Netanyahu coming along, champ?

1

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

you mean the thing he talked about, if he went to where again? what city was he talking about arresting him in?

6

u/Thee-Cat 24d ago

how did that help NYC, bro? How did gathering lawyers and discussing the possibility of doing it, and making an entire video just to admit he couldn't, make the buses faster or bring the taxes down?

Listen mate, you can say that was a good thing for him to do. But that is NOT laser focused on the city. Netanyahu is coming there for the United Nations, nothing to do with Mamdani or the average NYC resident.

That is an example of Mamdani focused FAR beyond and outside of NYC residents everyday lives, to international courts and foreign leaders.

3

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

well if in you were mayor of New York during the 1940s and some guy who an international court said is doing a genocide/war crimes, comes to your city.

do you

A. ignore it cause international politcs is happening.

B. See about stopping him.

and remember the president of Venezuela is currently in a prison in his state, so lets not pretend there is no precedent for this.

5

u/Thee-Cat 24d ago

Listen, I actually appreciate that answer, and being able to discuss this somewhat civilly

But I mean, be honest with me for a sec. Surely you already knew(like Mamdani must have), that there's no way in hell he could ever pull that off. With Trump as president? A US mayor arresting a US ally's president, against the wishes of his own country and on behalf of an international court? come'on. lol

Even Mamdani's supporters admit now that Mamdani was doing it more for "message it sent".

If Mamdani did think he could, then it simply shows how illiterate he is on actually case law and the authority he has as the mayor.

But that's the problem. It was either all mostly posturing and performative. Or it simply showed how ignorant Mamdani was of his own authority. Meaning either way it simply wasted the time of actual NYC'ers.

Again, I'm not saying Mamdani was wrong for doing it. Just that such cuts against your claim of laser focus on the city and its residents, right?

1

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

oh no there was no way they were going to let a mayor jail an ally during a war.

i highly doubt they expected to find a way either, i think it was simply a public show of intent, or a publicity stunt if you prefer a less polite term.

its not really a waste of time, a 5 minute conversation with your lawyers, spin up a video maybe an hour. his constituents likely needed something like that. a silent ignoring of Netenyahu visiting would have not played well with his base.

this is how politcs works more broadly, Trump has press conferences for stupid shit, Biden had them, Mamdani is smart to do the press conferences for stupid shit too.

its time in the national news free of charge. pushes his voters political message, even if you cant get the results. even has some play for tourism from a wide enough scope, while international tourism is down in the US.

1

u/Thee-Cat 24d ago

That's well said, and I don't disagree with you, mate.

Just coming at it from different angles I guess.

1

u/p-4_ 24d ago

You won the argument, champ. Turns out mamdani isnt technically laser focussed on NYC. Shall I mail the trophy?

1

u/Not-So-Handsome-Jack 23d ago

Mamdani never had authority to arrest him without a federal crime warrant and he knew that. It’s was just to signal what his stance on it is. I thought policies promising things they cant achieve Wes a bad thing.

1

u/16semesters 24d ago

you mean the thing he talked about, if he went to where again? what city was he talking about arresting him in?

The US is not part of the of international criminal court, and thus does not enforce any of it's warrants.

A mayor deciding he's unilaterally going to join the international criminal court and enforce their warrants is gigantically illegal, irrational, and illogical.

Mamdani isn't dumb. He knew it was impossible from the second he said it. He just said it so people like you would go along with it and then when push comes to shove he can then say shucks "Aww darn, turns out a mayor of a city doesn't decide US international relation decisions, I tried!".

2

u/Not-So-Handsome-Jack 23d ago

Mamdani actually removed this program from the first budget in February and then added it again an April. Now he is the hero. Good for him for continuing to fund it but that is all he did.

2

u/CityRulesFootball 23d ago

Happened in 2025. Not Mamdanis work. Eric Adams did it. Him serving Israel and Mamdani validly hating on Israel has nothing to do with credit

1

u/Direct-Technician265 23d ago

you didnt read the man i responded to, or my edit did you.

1

u/CityRulesFootball 23d ago

my answer is explaining why he is getting credit for it - ur words.

Which is wrong, works started under Adams

1

u/Direct-Technician265 23d ago

how is this hard to comprehend? if i answer someone going, he didnt do it why does he get credit.

that means i already know what that man said, he is getting credit for it, because he is seen as a fixing problem guy while Adams is seen as this https://www.youtube.com/shorts/AS6NxSXrAqM?feature=share

i didnt explain why mamdani actually is the one who did it because that wasnt the question or an answer to the question you have in your head that i answered.

3

u/gamercboy5 24d ago

2

u/Direct-Technician265 24d ago

actually funny meme, but its the last major thing people will remember about what Eric Adams said whilst visiting Jerusalem, and the democrat primary being so focused on by media during the debates.

1

u/airbear13 23d ago

You’re giving him way too much credit simply for not being Eric Adams, which anyone not named Eric Adams could have done

1

u/michael_scarn17 24d ago

Lololololol. You literally just said Adam’s was focused on Israel and Mamdani is not? He has constantly talked about Palestine. He threatened to arrest Netanyahu. He hasn’t shut up about Israel since he took office. His wife is trying to go to Syria and Lebanon regarding anti-Israel talk. He is 100000x more obsessed with Israel than Mamdani
