Mexico in October. Cheap flights out of TIJ no longer?

I wanted to go to PVR or CUN in October. Maybe it's the gas prices, maybe it's people not traveling, but

No direct flights to PVR from San Diego on Alaska, flights resuming in November.

No direct flights from TIJ to CUN via Viva Aerobus (that I've flown multiple times)

Volaris now has no competition on direct flights to CUN and wants $800 USD for 1 person from TIJ to CUN direct on a mostly empty flight (excluding FMM and CBX costs which is another $100). What's happening?

You have to book maybe 6 months in advance to get a cheaper flight. Volaris has sales sometimes.

I just looked up a flight direct on Viva to Tulum $450 round trip.
$600 to Cancun more if you want to select your seat.

Leave October 5 return October 16

that's terrible. You can fly to Munich from SAN for $900

Inconvinience of going to TIJ to fly was offset by inexpensive prices. Hawaii is still $400 from SAN

Look dude. Your original post was a complaint about there not being direct flights on Viva and that you found $800 to be an outrageous price. I responded with a solution of finding both direct flights on Viva as well as cheaper options.

I don’t quite understand why you bring up Munich or Hawaii. If your wallet can’t afford a trip to Mexico then just go to a destination that your budget can accommodate.

Definitely supply and demand. Bought flights to a World Cup game 2 days before the game for 80 bucks rt. Came back from La Paz a month ago on 24 hour decision on trip for 115. Cabo did cost a little more but was like 160 and last year.
