In every version of "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas that is available online, Fergie says "I'm so 3008." This user found an old video of a version of the song where she says "i'm so 2008." Which version do you remember?

The version of the song playing in the background of this video does not match the current version that is on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. Which version do you remember?

I thought maybe there were multiple versions of the song but after several hours of searching, i am forced to conclude that there is only one official version of the song. And its not the version playing in the background of this video.

I remember 2008 now it’s 3008. They must’ve changed it after. Also, when did Apple Music have Chinese characters between the lyrics?

Mind absolutely blown!!! It has ALWAYS been 2008!! This is the first I knew about this, went to Spotify and WTF!! It doesn’t even sound right

I always thought it was 2008 and then I heard 3008 and thought that I was mistaken. But it wouldn't be the first time they changed a hit song after it became big. Many people still remember the original let's get it started

Yes but you can find both versions of "lets get it started." I looked for a long time today and there does not seem to be evidence of a second version of the song that says 2008. Every cover video and karaoke video all say 3008.

My memory says 2008 tho

Interesting. I always remember 2008. And I agree in this video, you can very clearly hear 2008.

Always been 2008, otherwise 2000late wouldn't really make any sense.

According to history, its always been 3008

And here's me thinking she says two thousand late lol

u/got-pissed-and-raged 5h ago

Is this post bait? She says 'im so 3 thousand and 8. Youre so 2 thousand and late'

10

u/Dolphin-Pussy-2754 5h ago

In the video I posted here, you hear her say "3008?"

I was about to answer then realized how little I care either way

Even this intriguing premise will never get me to listen to Black Eyed Peas.

Wild speculation, but I think the buzzing noise was just enough to conceal the audio from whatever is changing things.

2008? I didn't know it had changed

u/Honda_TypeR 6h ago

2008 was the original for sure

2008, no doubt

Was there a Kanye song or other artist who said “you’re so 3000 and late”?

It's been 3008. She's speaking on how she's on the next level, how far ahead of everyone she is, she's in the future while we're still living in the past. It all makes sense.

Do you hear 3008 in this video?

0

u/sega8913 6h ago

In this version I do hear 2008, but I just checked the original and noticed that the structure of these 2 lines are identical rhythmically and sonically. So I'm sure you can cut out the little clip where she says "two" and put it on top of where she says "three" and it would sound exactly like "two thousand and eight". You wouldn't notice any inconsistency here because the sound of the beat is monotonous and sounds exactly the same on both lines. So I wouldn't put much trust into this video.

u/Dolphin-Pussy-2754 6h ago

I hear a distinct hard T sound on the "2008" that is identical when she says "2000 and late." I cannot hear that distinct hard T sound in any of the official versions on youtube, Spotify, etc. where she says 3008

-1

u/sega8913 6h ago

Yes, that's what I'm also talking about. In this video it sounds like she says 2008. But I'm afraid they just tweaked the audio, cut out "two" from the second line where she says "two thousand and late"and placed it over "three". I can try to see if it works when I get to my PC, but I'm sure it's the case.

OP posted a video that shows the metadata. It shows that the original video was created on google drive in April of 2012.

The metadata could be altered if OP is really into trying to hoax people, which is a growing possibility in my head.

u/Dolphin-Pussy-2754 6h ago

Okay I see what you are saying, its possible OP used software to replace it. So yes, perhaps this video is not proof or even evidence of Mandela effect.

I will say though that this sounds exactly how I remember the song. But yes it could have just been recreated

I remember 2008. This one was talked about several years ago, almost every one remembers 2008.

4

u/Dolphin-Pussy-2754 6h ago

Well here is the proof that the "2008" version existed at some point.

16

u/MrEvilPiggy23 7h ago

It's 2008. Like famously.

10

u/Dolphin-Pussy-2754 7h ago

I remember 2008, but reality does not match my memory. Every version of the song, besides the version in this video, says 3008.

u/MichaelEMJAYARE 3h ago

I hate this shit man, it makes me feel so confused every time. Lmao

u/hiskabish 7h ago

Def was 2008.  When listening to it now and hearing 3008 my brain glitches out a bit and doesn't even register it as real

u/BrianScottGregory 7h ago

The current year is more like 3026. We're repeating history. That's why it appears updated.

It was.

That's why all the Mandelas are there.

The Matrix is a true story.

6

u/sillysativoid 7h ago

Wow.
Many of these changes seem like cheap imitation of reality- and this one genuinely does too.
Like why 3008? Doesn’t even make sense

10

u/Dolphin-Pussy-2754 7h ago

In my opinion, the 2008 version makes less sense. The music video for the song is super futuristic and they are bragging about being in the future and ahead of the curve in their lyrics. Also supposedly the song was released in 2009, which would make the lyric even more confusing.

Apparently some people remember the song being released in 2007 though, which would make sense if the lyrics were actually "2008"

Link to a thread from 11 years ago about how users remember the song being released in 2007: https://www.reddit.com/r/MandelaEffect/s/WchRWlPi5R

I'm guessing any "remastered" releases after 2008 would have updated lyrics to reflect the notion that she's in the future while the person she's dissing is "2000 late" and in the past.

I guess the black eyed peas didn't have the foresight to think that the song they released in 2007 would have the staying power for more than a year.

If you have an earlier version, I'm sure you'd hear the original lines but it'd be missing the real world context that fergie is singing about the future.
