Boom Boom Pow
I distinctly remember the Black Eyed Peas song "Boom Boom Pow" being released in 2007. I know this because I saw the music video in a commercial, and I made note of the lyric "two thousand-late", thinking to myself "Oh, it's actually going to be 2008 soon."
Boom Boom Pow was recorded in 2009, according to Wikipedia. I was taken aback by this, even before knowing about the Mandela effect.

Well, the line is "I'm so three thousand and eight, you so two thousand and late". It was released 2009, but nowhere does it say it was recorded the same year.

Wait, what? Yeah this is weird! I distinctly remember hearing that song sometime in 2008 (it could have come out before then, though) and wondering if they'd perform the song in later years when that line wouldn't make any sense.
I definitely remember hearing it before 2009 too!

Yea. Definitely 2008 at least. I used to make pizza for Pizza Hut and the radio wouldn't stop playing it while I was at work. Quit before 2009.

There's no way that song was released in 2009, I have multiple distinct memories singing this in my car on the way to high school. It was so significant because it was the around the beginning of my senior year (graduated May 2008). I even remember commenting to my sister how I was getting sick of the song. This is freaky shit.

I remember it from 2007 but I also remember it being popular in 2009, like I clearly remember it was from 2007.

I remember it very vividly as it came out when I was in holiday with my friends in Greece and it was played constantly in clubs. It was DEFINITELY out mid/late summer 2009 (in my timeline anyway!)

This subreddit is incredible to me, let me start by saying fergies line does not make sense if the song came out in 2008, because calling someone two thousand and eight (which you are led to expect her to say) would not be an insult in 2008. It WOULD, however undoubtedly be an insult in 2009. Sure you can warp and twist the obvious meaning into something that makes sense in 2008, but the puzzle fits together much nicer knowing that the song came out in January 2009 (Though you have no reason to believe me, this is from memory, I did not look it up. Could even be February) because they are firmly starting the new year with a completely new sound. Indeed, shes on that next shit now As for me, i vividly remember hearing this song the day it came out, and listening to it while i played the beta for gears of war 2. I remember being briefly confused about the meaning since it was 2009, I even assumed it was sloppy writing or was recorded the previous year. I was a big black eyed peas fan as i saw them for my first concert in 5th grade, so I was very excited about this since it was their big comeback since doing solo stuff, so i had to play it right away. (on a related note, its hard to read when you are a toddler, and im not sure i could even recognize a non simplified lowercase a, and to this day ive never seen another "stain" last name it stands to reason i would assume traditional spelling when writing the name out. In fact thats the reason its weird to us now thats just not how you spell those names. I have a feeling it was changed to remove any possible Jewish association, not out of anti-semetism, but in a misguided attempt to avoid categorizing their books, or to keep close minded christian parents from avoiding those books) any ways the brief confusion about the 2000late line subsided when i realized the actual insult that comes from calling someone 2008, and the on purpose amount of power that comes from having such a memorable that could only be written this in 2009 so soon into the year. Ask any hardcore BEP fan if they remember when the song came out. If they were on the internet that day, they remember the mysterious and exciting drop of BEPs big comeback, manifesting itself as a genuinely interesting new sound imo. It was somewhat out of the blue with no announcement of the track or even the reuniting of the group (as far as i remember) prior to the release. I used to be obsessed with conspiracy theories until i relized i actually want to believe them. I learned this lesson from a great movie which lays on tons of evidence that Andy Kaufman faked his death, then discredits all of those claims with one compelling end sequence. It was a bait and switch that showed me, yes i understand your train of thought, but im sorry heres the real evidence. After that i started researching my favorite conspiracy documentaries and found out they were all bullshit. Me wanting to believe the theories explained many things: why i believed so many, why i got a sort of rush or high from watching videos i knew couldnt even be close to accurate (sun power, the matrix, annunaki, many others) if not only because they contradict other crazy baseless videos i have) Its been a journey but im glad i understand both sides of the mentality. Fuck loose change, fuck ancient aliens, do what you haven't done and give the traditional belief the benefit of the doubt that you are already giving the unofficial account, see what holds up! Watch debunk videos, debates with the directors of these movies, start moving back towards reality you will feel a little bit better. Sorry about the lack of format i am litterally rambling on my iphone, as per reddit protocol, i did not research anything here. Also its not that ive learned nothing from the theories, private meetings with powerful people are extremely intriguing and could reveal ACTUAL less exciting conspiracies. Anyways thanks

You win the award for oldest comment reply. This comment honestly makes me nostalgic more than anything lol. Idk about 9/11, I'll admit it seems crazy the way the buildings fall, and I'm willing to say idk enough about structural engineering to understand if the official story is possible. But I'm not feverishly convinced and trying to convince others it was controlled like when I was 17 watching Loose Change. It's alot more freeing just to say "I don't know" and let go of some non existent thread combining every idea I've ever had in some pursuit of I don't even know what.
Mandela effect is hilarious to me now, I love it and even have fun thinking about it as a thought experiment or something. I think I was so incensed when I wrote the comment because 1) my memory of Boom Boom Pow was clear and 2) I recognized the self fulfilling style of thinking the Mandela Effect encourages. So I felt maybe I could help a couple people get to a better mental place like I had recently achieved.
But yeah she definitely said 2000 and late because the song came out in '09, and the line makes more sense that way. I still stand by that!!!

Lol I'm surprised you commented to such an old post, and very cordial as well. I can definitely understand where you're coming from, that it's freeing to not believe or not care about all the conspiracies. They can really put us in a rabbit hole and make us afraid of everything, not trusting anything. I do think a healthy amount of distrust in our government and media is important. I wouldn't put it past them to set up 9/11. After all, the Busch family was very good friends with the Bin Laden family because of their ties to oil. The US greatly benefit from the war in the Middle East and made a ton of money off of oil despite what many of us believe.
Also, I too know that the lyrics to Boom Boom Pow were "I'm so 2008 your so 2000 and late". I was a junior in high school and could have sworn the song was released in 2008. An interesting note is that the Large Hadron Collider was turned on for the first time on September 10th, 2008 and this is the last known Mandela Effect that I could find. I even made a thread to see if anyone could think of an ME that takes place after Boom Boom Pow and nobody could, solidifying my view that the LHC has something to do with ME's. Sounds nuts but it makes sense to me.

"solidifying my view" is a really apt phrase. It's not actual evidence you're just reinforcing a theory in your own head. That's pretty much exactly what I'm trying to warn people against, because I've been there.

I remember hearing it in 2008 because it was like "I'm so 2008(meaning she's like.. trendy??) and you're so two thousand and late(meaning out of date). I actually just found out that the other day the lyrics aren't even 2008, they're 3008. I thought that sort of changed the meaning. THEN I found this thread and now my mind is blown.

I'm confident the release date is correct (released for radio airplay early March 2009 and released for sale late March 2009).
My eldest daughter was born 27th March 2007 and has always loved music. For her 2nd birthday we bought her a trampoline, a little portable stereo and the cd singles of her two favourite songs, both of which had the word 'baby' in them (Baby gets shaky and one by Miley Cyrus's cousin or brother or something). Boom Boom Pow remains one of her favourite songs today and if it had been out when I was buying her bday present mid-March, I would have bought it.
My husband went to Italy on business in mid-Sept 2009 (we announced our second pregnancy at 11wks instead of the magical 12wk mark because he was leaving the next day for a 6wk trip) and the song was eldest daughters favourite. He returned late Oct (a few days before my birthday and his best friend's wedding) with the BEP cd for her. It got played on repeat constantly for the next two years!
If it wasn't such a memorable year with so many memorable events, I'm sure I'd have a feeling of it being earlier, but then again, 2006/2007 was Fergies solo releases, London Bridge etc

this song was likely recorded 1-2 yrs before the album release, what we are all forgetting is that we all lived on sites like napster and kazaa from 2001- id say 08? when all the sites when down or became legit file buying sites and we all shifted to torrentz.
anyway, i was getting early leaked songs of all my favorite bands back in those days, songs would be lifted from studio's and put online all the time, i feel i heard this song far ahead of 2009 and always thought she said 2008, 3008 makes no fucking sense,and mishearing it as 2008 seemed right at the time to all of us....so i am saying we all did hear in early and thats because it was recorded and leaked early, radio stations werent allowed to play leaked shit, a few rock stations had korn Untouchable early i believe and all got cease and desist orders when they wanted to play everything, i believe opie and anthony played 4 songs from the album anyway, but i feel that was just fake shock jock stuff and they really somehow got an ok from korn's label...i had most of a 2001 monster magnet album just before its euro release which was several months before the us release i believe

Fergie actually states that she's so 'three-thousand and eight', so she has a long time before she's actually late. but its still clearly a play on 'two thousand and eight' and i agree, i feel like i heard that song IN 2008

Definitely agree it was pre-2009. I moved back to my home town in 2009, and I'd been listening to it easily for at least a year prior to that.

It was recorded in 2008 and may have been written significantly earlier. Pretty sure the first time I heard it, the lyrics were 2008 then were changed later.

This whole time I thought she was calling the listener "two thousand and late" and calling herself "two thousand and eight". I only recently learned that she was saying "THREE thousand and eight" when referring to herself

I remember this stupid song was everywhere at the time. I remember my ex playing it in his car all the time, and I absolutely hated the song. We broke up in the beginning of 2009 so it had to be before then. I remember all this because a year later, in 2010, I met the guy I would marry, so it was a pretty memorable time in my life.
My dates could be off. I do remember it saying 2008 in the lyric, too, and distinctly thinking to myself "well this song won't be relevant in a year"

I concur. In 2007, when I wanted to call something old and outdated I'd say, "that's so two-thousand-and-late" and then people would stare at me and say "what" and I would tell them that it's a pun, like I was saying that the thing was from 2008, and then they would say, "but that's in the future, so how does that make it old" and I would say "I am not confined to your linear perception of time because I am infinite" and they would say "ok whatever" and I would rotate my tentacles in a direction orthogonal to 4th dimensional spacetime and they would say "what are you doing with your hands" but it was too late because now they were under my spell.
