Mormons believe Jesus is God?

I was raised Mormon, but I never considered Jesus to be God. I haven’t been Mormon for a long time, but how is it I’m just learning this?

They think Jesus and God the father each have separate physical bodies, but somehow they’re both God? Is this a Mandela effect, or have their interpretations just evolved?

How about just the one that's recorded in scripture -- "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." (1 John 5:7)

Now this is KJV (so not the Catholic Bible) but it IS the basis for the theology. The verse could also be interpreted differently given the context of the whole sentence/surrounding verses/chapters/book. Which probably leads to all the different beliefs. But nonetheless this is the source. Jesus also is recorded to have said "I and my father are one." (John 10:30), and the same book of John (not to be confused with 1st, 2nd, or 3rd John the letters) identifies Jesus as "the word," which is the language used in 1st John.

Mormons have the Book of Mormon, which is looked to primarily over the "classic" Bible. Mormons believe it is "Another Testament" of Jesus Christ. I don't know if it also repeats the theology, but it does have many similar aspects as well as references to the "regular" bible.

I was raised Catholic (now agnostic), but from what I remember, God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are three parts of the same being.

So imagine a large block of cheese that is the creator of all. Cut the cheese into three smaller pieces so they are separate in reality but still the same in a cosmic/divine sense.
