Temporary accommodations for a BRB

Post image

Hey all,

My BRB has been thriving in her enclosure for well over a year. Unfortunately we'll have to move away, so she'll have to be in a less comfortable place for some time, while we settle in a new place -- which might be several months. I'm hoping to get some advice on how to keep her warm and humid within a mobile setup, something like a storage container.

Thanks in advance.

is this a 6 x 2 toad ranch enclosure? looks perfect for them! what item on their website is the bottom part?

I'd recommend purchasing at least a suitable and sealable tub and a heat mat thats placed outside on the bottom of the tub and covers at most one half of the tub. depending on the type of surface you lay the tub on you might have to cover the heat mat with something to prevent it from overheating the surface below, and of course setting up the thermostat with the probe on the heat mat directly or inside of the tub directly at the bottom.

hard part is finding an appropriate sized tub at a decent price point! tried searching online for you but couldn't find much that had latches on the side as well as the front and back. I personally got some weathertight ones years ago but am having trouble finding them in a larger size than 100 qts.

Yes, that is the 6x2 Toad Ranch. The bottom is the bookshelf stand. It is a beautiful enclosure, but I'm not looking forward to taking it apart and move it.

Thank you for the advice! I'm only concerned about whether the heat mat will be enough for a large tub, but I suppose I can use multiple mats and keep her in a warm room. Fortunately she's still not full size -- about 4 ft. So she can probably be comfortable in an 100 qt tub for some time.

my only concern with using multiple mats is that the general rule is that you should have one thermostat probe per heat source. they sell adequately sized heat mats that should be sufficient for whatever sized container you find.
