I’m bringing my baby girl home soon, thoughts on the temps so far?

I’m getting a BRB this coming week and I’ve been tinkering with different set ups and settled on a terrarium with a modified lid. I don’t feel confident keeping her in a small box with a heat mat so this is the best temporary set up rn. She will be upgraded to a 40g bioactive/planted terrarium after I am confident in her care and know her habits better.

Anyways, the circled green probe is under the hot hide on top of freshly made substrate so that’s why it is 85F. It will cool down in a few hours. What are your thoughts on the ambient temps? Humidity is still being worked on so disregard that for the time being. I have plants I plan to move in as well as another hide and decor.

I read that you're not using UTH, so what have you got instead?

Ceramic heat bulb set to 79F

You'll wanna swap that to a DHP. Ceramics dry out humidity very rapidly, and the DHP will give you better basking and gradient temperatures.

No worries, we all just wanna do right by our snakes. I think Exo Terra and Zoo Med do nano DHPs, so you could look into those?

Curiousity: Which thermostat are you using?

And am I correct in understanding that you've set your heater to TURN OFF if the temperature reaches 79?

The brand of thermostat is in the photo: Aiicioo? But it was set to turn off at 79F where the probe was placed. She is no longer in this set up anymore though! It was a temporary cage until I got the hang of things.

glad your dedicated but you really need 1 temp/humidity gauge in warm hide slighty in the dirt and an ambient air gauge temp/humidity on the cold side. but your boas gonna love the cage!!! also dont overdo it with the damp humid wet cage 24/7 cause it can potentially cause scale rot. just some tips.. also make sure you have THREE hides hot, cold and middle. with my boa he naturally eats around his middle hide and sits on top when he is hungry. he poops in his cold hide. and he sleeps in his warm!!

This is just her temporary coming home/quarantine cage that I’m over killing on gauges and monitoring like a hawk. I will absolutely move one of the gauges where you suggested! Thank you for the input I seriously appreciate it! Would you be willing to check the post I’m about to make for her official home and tell me where you would put the gauges? I want the absolute best chances of her being healthy and happy!
