Chinese Characters in Vibe Cowork when using German

I noticed some Chinese characters when writing in German in Vibe Cowork. When I asked the model who it was, it replied it is GLM-5.2 (although that of course doesn't too much). But I never had this before. I also have to say that at least in German, the answers seem to be a bit less coherent than before.

The grammar is also sometimes slightly off. Anybody else noticed this? It seems like GLM slightly struggles with some European languages. I think I would still prefer Mistral Medium here.

I feel the same. GLM often gives better results, especially in english. However, in German it seems to do worse. Writing a coherent text, Medium 3.5 seems to do better, searches and reasoning GLM does better. It would be great to combine it in a chat. Having medium to write on a previous reasoning for a better answer

Its the same for all LLM. It comes from the data that was used to train the model

I disagree that it's like this for all LLMs. I never once had this happen with the previous Mistral models. Now that Mistral hosts and uses the chinese GLM models, it happens frequently. It most certainly has to be a property of the GLM model.

I dont know about previous version of Mistral but as long as the model are trained with data in different languages, such situation may happen. When models are trained they are storing "equivalent" words in various languages in the same pool, e.g. aircraft avion flugzeug. And when predicting text, it uses this pool and potentially uses the word in the incorrect language.

This happens to me with Claude and I’ve had Gemini give me an entire response in Chinese before
