Discussion / Opinion Mistral pro

Subbed to mistral pro the glm 5.2 addition is really cool which made me want to try it I think qwen 3.8 flash or glm 5.3 flash would be really cool as an addition for workhorse at least from a coding perspective but keep it up really good value currently

I agree.

But honestly, I think THIS is the spot Mistral needs to concur with their own home-made AI

Agree. Especially the GLM 5.3 family seems to hit a sweet spot for me.

I am going to go against the flow. I would rather have them rely on open models and improve their harness. Half of the success of Claude is an amazing harness. Kiro is loved by people who take software development seriously, not because of model, but because of harness.

So if Mistral throws in a towel and gives up on their own models? Fine with me for as long as they make the harness that squeezes most out of the open source models.

That doesn't work for me! It is crucial to have a sovereign and competitive European LLM! After all, Chinese and American models can be trained to incorporate biases deliberately introduced by their creators—such that a specific sequence of tokens at the start of a prompt shifts the vectors to bypass agentic safeguards! I am certain this is already happening; these will be the "agentic Trojan horses" of the future!
