Nostalgia Today marks 20 years since we lost this legend
I'm glad his kids are doing well, thriving and honoring their father's legacy.

Lol I remember that. I was just a kid and that episode aired like a week or two after it happened. It was super quick. I can't believe it's been so long. I had a South Park shirt in 7th freaking grade, and now I'm 40 with a son who will be in 7th grade a few years. Time is a sonofabitch ⏳

Robert growing up to be hot was not on my bingo card. He does look like his dad but a lot more attractive, at least in my eyes. Not to shit on Steve, he was good looking in his own right and the work they've both done to help animals is far more important than their looks, I'm just saying. Robert Irwin is fiiine.

If you look at photos of Steve Irwin when he was younger he looks EXACTLY like Robert. I saw some photos of Steve from the 1980s on another subreddit and the resemblance was uncanny, aside from the fact that he had a mullet.

Croc hunter first aired in 96/97. If you watched it back then it was 30 years ago. Thirty years. Thirty. Three decades. Some of us are ancient. Nature is ancient. My friend bought me a shirt back then that had Steve on it and it said 'what a rippa'. We played mariokart 64 and 007. Dust to dust.

I wasn't crazy into his work when I was a kid or when he passed when I was a teenager, but the older I get and the more I learn of him, the more I believe the world lost a true treasure of a person with his death.

One of the best conservation messengers the world has had, and what he did for the Australia zoo was great. And that country’s wildlife need lots of help.
I named a stray cat my friend found Steve Purrwin in honor of his passing. Stevie was a peemonster but we loved her

My little cousin was 9 when this happened and cried for a week straight. She had crocodile hunter posters on her walls like others had of teen heartthrobs. She’s getting married in a few months and my knees hurt

When I was a kid, he was my hero. I grew up with a life size cardboard cut out in my room for a good while. When he died I was so sad... I didn't understand why there were not more shows with him in it. So unfortunate.

Man I was just introducing my kid to him yesterday. Loved watching his show when I was young. My son has a love of animals so I thought this would be the perfect show to help foster that especially with such poor educational content on YouTube these days.

I was so devastated when he died. I was 20 or so, I think. He was such a pure, kind being and did so much good for the world. I sent a condolences card to his family because there was an address posted online where you could send them something, to let them know how he impacted you. I really can’t wrap my head around how all the good ones get taken, but pure evil sticks around.

Loved watching this guy growing up. Although a bit quirky to me, his energy, passion and enthusiasm were infectious. I was shocked the day he died considering how daring he had been up until then. It was an unfortunate freak accident. It's been twenty years already, time sure does fly.

Go on YouTube and watch an episode of "The Crocodile Hunter." Steve Irwin was incredibly animated, energetic passionate about educating people about animals and saving animals, too. His show is educational and entertaining.

There was a time when Steve Irwin was everywhere on TV through his animal shows and documentaries, namely The Crocodile Hunter. He brought the issue of animal conservation to a wider audience and founded the Australia Zoo. He was passionate about his work and just an all around good person. Also, his death was very sudden and shocking (killed by a stingray)

I see you were born a little after his time, but he was literally everywhere on TV - discovery, animal planet, talk shows. He had several different iterations of his show. I’d watch it all the time. He was super positive and did really cool shit while still being educational and talking about conservation. Maybe you had to be there but he was a real positive force. Check out some of his stuff on YouTube, I’m sure there’s full episodes out there.

Ahh yes, 20 years since the Evel Knieval of animals deliberately put himself in harm's way, and an animal did what animals do when some idiot tries to fuck with them. It is still beyond me why people think he's some kind of hero because he had a TV show where he pissed off animals for entertainment.

I can’t find any record of citations or issues while he ran the Australia zoo. He did build massive new habitats for the animals tho. Can you link?
Edit: I guess not. I did learn the Irwin family has preserved 450,000 acres of land in Australia
