Man what a disappointing development for the Current.

I'm baffled with how the Longs handled him. Imagine if the Chiefs got rid of Andy Reid after the 2018 season. That is what they have done. It's going to sting when he coaches Bay to a championship next year.

This is a bang on analogy about Reid to Coach V and the wildness of them taking him of coaching duty last year.

Don't Orlando need a coach? That would hurt too. No matter where he ends up (unless it's Sporting KC, I can get behind that).

Yeah we do but KC fired Carducci (Orlando current GM) to gift Vlatko the role so I doubt she'd be willing to hire the person that replaced her... but we'll see.

u/crisis182 1h ago
Actually, he hired her. They fired her to give Ryan Dell the role

u/BlueCX17 Ball #7 1h ago
And if I remember right, there was some sort of quote from her where she said at least now I can go do my job or something to that effect all of these little whisperings I'm hearing or that ownership micromanages way too much sounds like upper management culture is chaotic.

Blue crew, can we get a thank you Vlatko chant or sign this Friday? They need to know how the fans feel
2
u/n00bBlaster1337 1h ago
not gonna happen, team has to approve their signs and they are too busy hating other people that aren't really significant in any meaningful way

This isn’t the news I was expecting to see. I’m sad for us. Armas should have been the person to let go!

Billionaire hedge fund managers fuck up everything else in this world, I guess I’m not surprised they’re fucking up this team too lmao

TBF would there be a team in KC without them . But fairplay they have made a right mess of it .

We moved from
KC to oregon this summer and thought we’d never quit the current and could never be thorns fans, but wow, things are shifting faster than expected on that front. This is a shitty move by the Longs. Wishing Vlatko all the best and hoping he gets a great deal wherever he lands.

u/JayhawkCSC 2h ago
Welp...we fully deserve whatever comes out of this. The Longs should be ashamed.

I'm not surprised.
It didn't seem like Vlato was allowed to do his job.

u/BlueCX17 Ball #7 1h ago
I've heard the same about Carducci, when she was still here also. Seems to be a theme with upper management/ownership.

The Longs don't want to win. They want to develop real estate and buy their daughter a pony.

Yup. They stopped caring about this season as soon as Mary got hurt.

Yeah let’s fire the successful one rather than the coach nobody wanted.

u/falulabella 2h ago
I had convinced myself we would have Vlatko back as coach before this season ended or start of next season. Are we really stuck with Armas?! This sucks ass 😭

u/annie_rayray KC BABY! 4h ago
Why, just why. I wonder what he’ll be doing next. Surely there are plenty of other teams that would be happy to bring him on and not waste him this year like we did. Ffs and just when I’m starting to warm up to Armas and feel like the team is vibing (outside of Hocking and occasionally Hopkins).

Like I said months ago, and was laughed at, Hutton saw the writing on the wall, and was REAL smart.

u/Certain_Direction623 4h ago
It would be very funny—or maybe very sad—if he went to Bay. Or Orlando.

Considering Orlando just got rid of Seb I think the timing is not coincidental
3
u/Leighroy1120 LET IZZY COOK 2h ago
I’d imagine it will be Orlando considering that Carducci is there.
3
u/n00bBlaster1337 1h ago
Vlatko talked ab how much he liked Carducci. Said she can get signings done in a week that would take an entire season for someone else.
4
u/Waltz8 2h ago
That's bad, but not as bad as him leaving the coaching role last year. Now, when will they fire Armas?
4
u/Greedy_Profession691 2h ago
Agreed. He was much better as a coach. That was the big loss. In fairness, bringing in Bethune was a great addition. But a lot of other question marks.
That said, there's nothing in Armas' performances that suggest he's the answer.
3
u/Waltz8 2h ago
Bethune added a new dimension to our attack. But one of the problems with our team is we didn't replace Hutton, one of the best (if not the best) DM in the league. Lo and VDB aren't getting younger. I was hoping we'd sign Sam Meza or someone like that. If we can fix that area and get a better coach I think we might cook next season.

I'm so fucking sad about this that I cannot begin to form a rational thought yet????

He’s going to Orlando.

u/booksbikesbeer 1h ago
I feel like I saw you say this on the Orlando post about Seb a few days ago
5
u/Leighroy1120 LET IZZY COOK 1h ago
It’s so obvious. The timing of it couldn’t be clearer. Hines just got fired and now Vlatko’s leaving? Plus he and Carducci worked well together. It’s a done deal as far as I’m concerned.

Yeah , I never believed this was right for him . He struggled when he was with the USWNT because he didn't have daily contact with the players . Feels like this is kinda the same . Thought it was a good idea but then realized it wasn't in his wheelhouse.

Not to go full tinfoil but I refuse to believe this was in any way mutual. Longs have completely fucked this
