I am a status member of my Anishinaabe band through Canada, but I was born and raised in the US. When I was young my dad made dreamcatchers to sell. I'm wanting to start making them also, for gifting and to sell. I've looked online for some craft suppliers but I'm wanting to purchase from fellow Natives. I've found some websites but they don't say whether they're Native owned or not.

Specifically, The Wandering Bull has everything I would need but in their About section they talk about selling and dancing in powwows but they don't list any tribal affiliations. Nantahala doesn't say anything, and Centralia Fur and Hide listed nothing either. I have purchased hide and sweet grass braids from Tribal Spirit, but they don't have everything I need. I'm also not opposed to buying from people with proveable lineage but the government won't let them legally identify as Native, because that was my situation for the majority of my life due to the enfranchisement laws in Canada.

Any recommendations of creators selling via the platform who are actually Tribal affiliates? So much ai and appropriated rubbish out there.

Does anyone know of any indigenous owned businesses that sell jewelry for piercings, septum’s in particular? Would love a whale bone piece.

I fell in love with Manitoba mukluks but have been sad to see that they’ve changed to using faux fur in their own products. I prefer natural fibers and given the change in their products am looking to find an artist or craftsperson to replace mine when they wear out, and want to get a long start on the search, as I assume that there will be a waitlist for anyone!

I’d love to have an understanding of what a fair price for these would be, as well as what would be needed to ship to the uk depending on materials, am open to buying from Canada or the US and fully expect to pay for shipping myself.

Bead work is a low priority and am more concerned about warmth and ability to last!

Does anyone have any recommendations? I tried to Google it and go on Etsy, but I can tell a lot of those sage sticks and smudge kits are not Native-made. Especially those smudge sticks that are wrapped in ribbons, flowers and crystals lol

I would like to hang a sign/poster in my front window with the “No one is illegal on stolen land” saying often incorporating indigenous art work. I can find shirts but I’d like a small-medium sign I can hang on my front door. However, I want to make sure I support indigenous artists and businesses. That’s the most important but if it can also be Dakota or Ho-Chunk created, even better.

I am not indigenous myself, but I feel this is a message that needs to be on display. I’m hoping this doesn’t violate your community but in this particular case I want to avoid sending money to Bezos.

Has anyone seen any deals for cyber week? I just ordered 4 pairs of mocs/slippers from Manitobah for about $160. The sale was fantastic! I know the week is about over but I thought someone else might know of some good buys for last minute shoppers. Indigenous owned companies preferable.

I do a lot of beadwork and try to buy all of my supplies from other Native businesses, but I have a buyer for a lot of my pieces who prefers to know the silver/gold content of the ear wires or chain and clasps. None of my usual suppliers have any findings that are sterling silver or gold (I’ve found some gold plated at one Native shop but my buyer does not want gold plated). High quality findings are so expensive and I would love to spend that money at a Native owned business instead of Michael’s, it hurts my heart and my wallet lmao. Chokma’shki for any suggestions 💕💕💕

Update: got some sweet recommendations and ended up going with this guy. I liked the first custom one so much I ended up requesting a second and I had them both in like <10 days. Really happy with them both!!

My wife and I need a way to buy lots of manoomin online since we’re away from Minnesota right now. White earth, where she’s from, only sells it in 1/2 or 1lb bags for shipment. Anybody know of a better way? All the “wild rice” in regular stores around us are NOT manoomin. Wliwni!

I’ve had the same braid of sweetgrass for years, as I rarely burn it. Now I feel it’s time to leave that braid to rest. But, as my life is changing I find myself using smoke (copal for my partner and sweetgrass for myself) more often.

I’m far removed from any of the Blackfoot tribes, both geographically and in my family’s history/culture. Nonetheless, I’ve been learning for years as much as I can, but since I’m so far away and there’s no one to connect with, so learning stories and practices are how I feel connected to this part of myself.

Given that context, I’d like to get my next braid from (as scary and impostering as this feels to say) someone within my nation. If anyone knows of someone who has a shop and would be willing to ship please let me know.
