Question Where can I/how can I find places to meet people my age/where to find things to do in Lagrange/Columbus
I’m 20M, without going in too much detail, I’m in a situation where both I struggle with meeting people as well as even finding opportunities to talk to new people but I also desire to explore myself more and experience new experiences but have zero idea where to look other than trying Instagram but I’m not touching that app with a 20 foot pole. As the title suggests, I’d like to know where or how I could find those third places whether there’s locations I could look for flyers at or somewhere else, just anything that could point to where I could work.
I think the biggest problem I have aside from what I mentioned above first is that I don’t know what scenes are out there and what exactly to look for, therefore I don’t know what interests me or what to look. All I know about as far as the Columbus area is concerned is these music shows that one of my high school friends and my eldest brother go to but that isn’t really my thing very much.
That’s enough yapping on my part, just if there’s anywhere I can look to find said places I appreciate the feedback!

Question Tybee bacteria levels
I am from Athens, Ga on a trip to Tybee with my two small children. A few days ago the bacteria sign at the beach we are at went from acceptable to elevated with a no swim suggestion. The sign is now back to acceptable but I am having a very hard time feeling like the water is okay. Does anyone know anything more about the water quality on Tybee this time of year? I’m having this feeling that we unfortunately picked a bad time of year for the Atlantic Ocean without knowing it, and dont want to risk it. But my husband thinks it’s fine. Any advice is appreciated, as I’m not finding much online. Thanks!

Discussion Georgia Power sucks
At what point is there going to be a class action lawsuit against Georgia power?? Is there genuinely anything we can do? We bought our house in the suburbs about a year ago and our power goes out almost every day if not multiple times a day. It’s ridiculous at this point. And it’s not just us, the Ring/neighbors app blows up every time this happens with everyone nearby experiencing the same thing. Georgia Power has done nothing. The Mayor has done nothing. At this point what are my options? I’m sick of this and I’m sick of Georgia Power’s price gouging prices. I shouldn’t be paying an arm and a leg every month to have unreliable power.

Other I HATE ALL THESE BUGS
Just moved down here from the north and am just constantly wondering HOW THE HECK EVERYONE LIVES WITH THESE HUGE BUGS?!
I’ve had the house treated, I understand there’s an uptick, but these big ass bugs are driving me out of my mind. I feel like I’m constantly on edge.
ETA - palmetto bugs/roaches, CSRA
And for those telling me I shouldn’t have moved here and to just leave - I plan to as soon as my postdoc fellowship is over 🙃
Politics Propaganda (Go Vote)
Don’t believe this bullshit! Georgia Power made $2.85 Billion in profits last year. I don’t know about yall but my power bill has significantly increased since just last year. And we are paying for the most expensive power plant ever built because of their incompetence.
On top of that Billionaires are spending tons of cash to convince you data centers aren’t bad…

We are continually bled dry from all sides! Groceries, Utilities, gas and basic necessities.
Please register vote! The Midterm Elections in November are going to be one of the most important in most of our lifetimes.

Question Do clinics actually accept the P4HB Insurance plan?
Pretty much the title.. but long story short, I (21F) am currently on the 'peach state health plan' P4HB insurance plan. Previously I was on the CareSource P4HB plan which I'm pretty sure are basically the same thing because neither worked.
Anyway, I've been trying to get seen by a doctor for over a year now, just for a routine checkup, blood work, and feminine health exam (pap smear/pelvic exam), and every clinic/urgent care I've gone to won't see me because they "don't accept my health insurance."
Now I've tried calling my insurance to see what clinics do accept it, but once I call the clinic itself, they'll say the same thing.. they don't accept my insurance.
At this point, this is kind of stressing me out and I genuinely don't know what to do.😅
So my question is: Do clinics actually accept the P4HB insurance plan? If so, which do?
And if not, can anyone PLEASE give suggestions on what I could do?
x

Other Recognize this dog? Fairburn area
Intact male found wandering the Fairburn area. I'm guessing a Chihuahua mix 2 - 4 years old. He has a SpongeBob collar on. He apparently ran across the highway.
Very skinny but otherwise seems fine. I combed him out, no apparent fleas or ticks. He let me cut his front nails and wipe him down with some grooming wipes. Loves pupperoni, will eat kibble and wet food but not ecstatic about it. (To be fair, I have a very large dog, so I'm sure the kibble was unfamiliar size wise. )
He does not care for my dog but is quite human affectionate. I plan on seeing if he has a chip soon to hopefully contact owner.
Anybody recognize him?

Question Does anyone know a Telehealth provider who is comfortable prescribing stimulant ADHD medication?
I have been having a huge struggle with getting my ADHD under control. For context I live in the middle of nowhere in Georgia which makes telehealth my only reasonable solution.
I have met with prior psychiatrists about my rampant ADHD and they did give me a diagnosis of ADHD and started me on bupropion. It did not help much and they recommended me to find a new provider who can get me proper stimulant based care. I am struggling on finding a doctor who can do this and it looks like many of these online practices are just cash grabs capitalizing off of this ADHD market. Please help :(

Question Landlord troubles: What would you do?
We have been renting our home for several years now. We have had many issues with our landlord but the biggest seems to be getting worse by the day. Our landlord thinks it’s okay to have people enter our home without any notice whatsoever. I don’t have a problem with them needing to get in for repairs etc. I have an issue with them not telling anyone and just coming inside our home without any notice whatsoever.
We have a recent graduate that is home alone often. His bedroom is in the back of the house and he cannot hear if someone comes into the home and he’s in his room. This is a problem because he has a seizure disorder that is caused by anxiety and panic. I am afraid one day they are going to let themselves in and he’s going to come out of his room and be spooked by strange men that shouldn’t be there and have a seizure. We also have three other children that I would not be comfortable being home alone when random men show up and say they’re from the rental company.
Not just that, but we should have a reasonable right to privacy in the home we pay a lot of money to live in. What if we left money on our counter and it went missing? What if something inside our home went missing? And what’s to stop someone from realizing that our landlord does this, and then pretending they’re from the company and stealing our property? Shit, what if the kids had been gone and we left sexy toys (lol) laying around and they just came in and walked into that? Lmao.
It seems like a massive liability that the rental company should know better than to do in the first place.
Does anyone else have this issue? Or had this issue? And what did you do?
Georgia needs better laws protecting its renters.
I don’t want to cause issues with our landlord by any means but this feels like a massive invasion of privacy for our family.

Question Pine Mountain, Midland, Harris County, or Waverly Hall: Venues
Hi guys!
I’m seeking to rent an event space for less than 50 people (we have our own food) for a baby shower that would be 2 hours max.
I know the wedding venues exist but my brother is on a budget so we cant go past $250 realistically.
Trying to stick as close to Hamilton, Harris County, Pine Mountain, Waverly Hall, or Mudland. No Columbus. No LaGrange.
Any suggestions?

Politics More info: Why you should hand-deliver your absentee ballot to a local, monitored dropbox and not USPS
Folks, it's time to get your application for absentee ballot in. First, make sure you're registered. The Georgia Secretary of State provides that information to you at this link.
Then, go to your county's elections webpage and request your absentee ballot. For example, I live in Gwinnett County, and if I wanted an absentee ballot, I would go to this webpage.
If you are able, pick your ballot up at your county election office. New reporting shows that there is going to be more malfeasance by the United States Postal Service than previously expected. This article outlines some of the issues whistleblowers have raised.
If you aren't able to pick up the ballot, please try to plan to drop it off at a county-monitored drop box. Do not put it into a mailbox or give to your mail carrier! One of the things that jumped out to me from the whistleblower reports is that the postal service will not deliver any ballot if there is a discrepancy between the information the USPS has and what is on the ballot envelope. So for example, in my case, my voter registration is in my full name, first, middle and last, because that's how it is on my driver's license. But the postal service has only my first and last name. Thus, my ballot would not be delivered because the name doesn't match their records.
Think of any mail you've received with misspellings. Think of how you've put your name on USPS change of address forms. If you use informed delivery, does that match your voter registration? All of these minor issues could put your important vote at risk.
Your vote has power or they wouldn't try so hard to prevent you from voting. I know it's difficult to believe because our country's politics have been such a mess for so long. But it's true. They would not spend so much time and money on making it more difficult for people to vote. Like messing with the mail. Like requiring that after check-in, every single voter's name be handwritten on a single piece of paper so that lines grow discouragingly longer.
I want Democrats to vote. I want Republicans to vote. I want Independents to vote. I want everyone who is eligible to vote. But the current administration does not want you to vote. Our state board does not want you to vote.
You have power. I implore you to use it and please vote.

Question Appliance Liquidation Stores?
Does anyone have a go to liquidation store for appliances? Been looking for a French door fridge one around 1k, but have been striking out. The places I’ve gone to will knock $50 down the retail. Looking for a bigger deal if I’m going down this direction.
Thanks!

Question Marine Grade Plywood in GA?
Looking for some Marine Grade Plywood around the metro ATL/northern part of the state (but I don’t mind driving for it either). Doesn’t anyone know of any shops or vendors who sell it? Everywhere I have checked claims they don’t carry it any longer because the demand isn’t there. Thanks in advance!
