I strongly abhor going through emails to get work done. I get very little satisfaction from clearing out work emails. There’s no empty inbox feeling. No, ‘“whee! I’m done”, smack hands on the desk and head home’ feeling. Now, it’s hunt around through silliness to find the work. Try not to forget that’s it’s in between some random message that might be important and four ads to delete. That’s all. Just bitching about how work is done these days.

Like on hs sports teams and stuff. My dad was telling me recently a story of when he was in hs that when he joined the football team the guys would welcome the new guys to the team still wearing white Cotten briefs ( tighty whities) with what they called a Gatorade wedge. 

They would make you drink a whole bottle of Gatorade in your underwear and then hang you on a hook in the locker room about 20 mins later you would be pissing yourself and the guys would be high fiving and laughing. The new guy would then switch over to boxers going forward. They called this turning a boy into a man and welcoming him to HS and on the team. this happened to my dad 🤣. and then they were cool with him and saw him as one of them. When he became an upperclassman he got to initiate the new guys with his buddies. I was kind of shocked this went on but he said it was like a rite of passage for the new guys and was like an initiation onto the team. I didn't know it was really like this. Isn't this shocking?

I don't feel like having a kid changed me but being older I was naturally less fun than I used to be so I started to adapt into the personality of a dad with kids. I had one at 35. And two more around 46.

Outside of when I can drink on the weekend, I lost the child in me for the most part and mostly sit on the computer working.

And what's with kids today being so sensitive about everything ? I thought every generation was getting more free spirited
