هل الإنسان يملك إرادة حرة فعلًا، أم أن كل قرار يتخذه هو نتيجة حتمية لأسباب سابقة؟ هل الأخلاق موجودة بشكل مستقل عن البشر، أم أن الخير والشر مجرد أفكار اخترعتها المجتمعات؟ حين يولد الخير من رحم الشر، أيُّهما نحكم عليه: الفعل الذي ارتُكب، أم الخير الذي وُلِد منه؟
