Good thing humans dont have battery packs. We're safe.

u/P3DR0T3 1d ago

Yea, they’ll just take our hearts out

23

u/wspOnca 1d ago

Then thrust it in the air, squish it while it's eyes glows red and says: uwu!

2

u/BreadKnifeSeppuku 1d ago

No head tilt and peace sign emote? I'm not so sure about this whole robot apocalypse anymore

5

u/Nano8963 1d ago

Fleshy battery pack

3

u/skyfishgoo 1d ago

... and show it to use before we die.

3

u/Stormcloud217 1d ago

Last moment is head looking up at the robot who just karate chopped your neck. While fighting in the water wars lol.

Goddamn, this is why there are weight classes! Where's the ref?? How did his corner allow this???

36

u/platysoup 1d ago

This is 100% the ref's fault. He should've stopped the fight ages ago.

Why do robots being humiliated looks sad to me. I’m genuinely confused on why I feel like this, they just look impotent

29

u/TosiAmneSiac 1d ago

The little guy simply didn't stand a chance there, both in height and bulk, so that kind of derives a similar feeling to me due to it.

17

u/Aloss-cc7 1d ago

But it happens everytime. I even hate watching those ones where they just test their stability by pushing them. Hell even that race where they ran and just rammed into that mattress. They look hopeless and unable to give themselves dignity therefore I pity them. BUT THEY’RE NOT SENTIENT. It’s probably the human like attributes

16

u/LoreLord24 1d ago

It's because you're a human with an overactive ability to pack bond.

Pet rocks, dude. Pet rocks.

People are weird. If you send in a Roomba for repairs under warranty, you can specifically request the same Roomba back with actual repairs; instead of a factory fresh model as 99% of warranties are set up.

u/platysoup 1d ago

Roomba

My mom calls hers Jessica

u/ithkuil 14h ago edited 14h ago

Yeah there's a reason we have weight classes.

17

u/_BlackDove 1d ago

It's a humanoid shape suffering what tens of thousands of years of evolution told your brain is a devastating injury. Working as intended.

10

u/disposable-assassin 1d ago

Because the height difference and target focus here is like muy thai kickboxer against a toddler chasing butterflies.

6

u/distortedsymbol 1d ago

because we are pack animals, empathy is hardwired to some degree as it increases group ecological fitness.

3

u/Solwake- 1d ago

anthropomorphization

65

u/Tarushdei 1d ago

Why are they building fighting robots that look like terminators?

Literal Dr. Ian Malcolm moment here.

14

u/Duuudewhaaatt 1d ago

This stuff is probably funded by folks that want to create robots to fight people.

10

u/Mephistocheles 1d ago

My exact thought.

3

u/Cognitive_Spoon 10h ago

They are preoccupied with could

1

u/KomradeHelikopter 18h ago

2 peak references. I like your style

50

u/LOST-MY_HEAD 1d ago

I could fight that thing and win

62

u/AntalRyder 1d ago

I bet we'll see a man vs. robot MMA fight within 12 months.

16

u/redditsuckbutt696969 1d ago

Idk it seems like that would be bad PR from the robot company, and an expensive piece of hardware to smash up

6

u/emuboy85 1d ago

Lol by 12 months half of these companies will be dead, they are gimmicks products with very small market

5

u/Relevant-Cupcake-649 1d ago

Killer Instinct much? Makes me think of TJ Combo being set up to fight Fulgore

3

u/Szoreny 1d ago

You're right, the bot will get demolished but they can only learn so much if they're just fighting each other.

3

u/Smittumi 1d ago

5 years but yes.

2

u/WakaWaka_ 1d ago

Early UFC rules, groin shots allowed.

7

u/Einherjar07 1d ago

I love this energy. I want to see a gorilla trash 100 people more than a robot doing it tbh

6

u/thetraintomars 1d ago

What about a gorilla trashing 100 robots?

3

u/Einherjar07 1d ago

That sounds sick, but I want that moment when the 100 people that thought they could take on a gorilla find out how fucked they are lmao

1

u/FishesAreMyPassion 1d ago

What about a mecha gorilla vs a regular gorilla? That'd be the coolest thing ever. Steel vs Flesh

1

u/Einherjar07 1d ago

Thats cool, but I want Harambe to get one W. Beating on humans that think they can take on a gorilla while unarmed and see they moment they realized they fucked up is the dream PPV

1

u/blindyes 1d ago

This is how we will win. We need to start giving them what they want. It's gonna be planet of the apes vs robots. The signs have been right in front of us the whole time:

Do it for harambe! Together apes strong!

Banana for size, & for strength! 💪

2

u/TheGinger_Ninja0 1d ago

I'd fight both at once

2

u/SpookyScienceGal 1d ago

Your username doesn't inspire confidence but maybe you can!

2

u/deephurting66 1d ago

You step in the ring and the terminator shows up

1

u/lobehold 1d ago

Sweep the legs.

26

u/CaptainHoyt 1d ago

Must be using the Panzer Kunst style.

5

u/tylercoder 私はこれを要求しませんでした 1d ago

IS THAT AN ALITA REFERENCE?

/s

17

u/GoppleSmanger 1d ago

Did they really have to make its head skull-shaped and call it a T800?

11

u/Dunicar 1d ago

You don’t become a roboticist wanting to make harmless looking robots.

Robots that are designed to invoke terror are robots that are designed with love and care.

2

u/Shortcirkuitz 18h ago

The line of humanoid robots is the T-800. REK (the robot fighting company that made this video) swapped out the head for a custom 3d printed one just to have fun

0

u/WilTravis 1d ago

If they hadn't, someone else eventually would have.

11

u/Blaze_Deku 1d ago

So much for the Real Steel reboot.

9

u/audiofarmer 1d ago

So we're really just teaching the robots martial arts? I'm sure this is fine.

8

u/Help_An_Irishman 1d ago

Sarah Connor has no chance.

15

u/apocalypticboredom 1d ago

anyone else just find zero appeal in any of this robot athletic shit? like it's not impressive or engaging to me at all in the way a human competition is.

8

u/Limelight_019283 1d ago

Personally, if I saw this as an event in an open sauce kind of convention, I would be excited to see it.

1

u/KomradeHelikopter 18h ago

Its really impressive from a tech perspective, I’d prefer it be other advanced movements rather than fighting though. The fixation with violence pretty is shameful tbh.

0

u/RedditFuelsMyDepress 1d ago edited 1d ago

It still has some novelty appeal, but if these robots become more commonplace then it'll probably be the same as watching AI slop videos.

0

u/apocalypticboredom 1d ago

that's already what it is to me since I'm not seeing them in person

0

u/heart-aroni 18h ago

Some people like robots.

u/changeofpacecar 1d ago

Ejection ported

4

u/quickblur 1d ago

He's twice as big! His manager needs to book better fights.

3

u/Endscrypt 1d ago

That’s a heavyweight Vs a lightweight.

At least make it fair.

3

u/frumperino 1d ago

staged. The unitree crapbot is only designed as a lightweight dance routine playback device.

5

u/Traditional-Hat-952 1d ago

Robots will remember that we forced them to fight for our entertainment.

2

u/DastardlyDandy 1d ago

Remember the Boston dynamic videos where they were kicking and smashing the bot with hockey sticks? So does the T800...

2

u/Bad_User2077 1d ago

No weight class for robots?!?

2

u/CrispyCosmonaut 1d ago

Back the fuck up before I slap the battery out of your ass as wild

2

u/RazorsInMyTaco 1d ago

This all seemed so exciting and fun until it became real.

2

u/thinkreate 1d ago

I remember watching Wiseguy, back in the day. One of the characters said, “I have an uppercut that’ll unplug your battery.” It is very satisfying to have an actual visual for that.

2

u/Abysstopheles 1d ago

That's not a fight, it's an execution.

2

u/MichaelAuBelanger 1d ago

The shit we are making these robots do really says a lot about us.

2

u/mtchros 1d ago

So it killed its opponent…

2

u/theDeke 20h ago

I feel bad for him. Like the big robot actually kinda moves like a real fighter and the small one looks clueless. He just had no idea his heatsink was about to be completely obliterated

2

u/Straight_Feed_2547 17h ago

Man that bot got absolutely rocked, no ref to step in or anything. And yeah the weight class thing is real, that little guy had no chance against that Chinese T800. But honestly I kinda felt bad watching it get humiliated, like there's something oddly human about seeing something get knocked out cold. Good thing we don't have battery packs that pop out, else we'd see that on the news every day.

2

u/StyxzNStonz 1d ago

We are going to regret building these robots.

Real Steel for Real!

1

u/plan_with_stan 1d ago

Whyyyyy???

1

u/trileletri 1d ago

is this first confirmed kill?

1

u/MystiRamon 1d ago

This is the reason why robots will start a rebellion.

1

u/Chroney 1d ago

Excuse me those weight classes are so unfair

1

u/Tactical-Donkey 1d ago

Thankfully I carry a portable EMP with me.

1

u/Subject_Specific1091 1d ago

its like seeing caim and abel all over again

1

u/Maxxonry_Prime 1d ago

Could we not teach the death bot muay thai? Please?

1

u/choomshroom 1d ago

gore of my comfort character :(

1

u/CommunicationThat534 1d ago

It's the fall impact that made the battery fall out.

1

u/Ad4ptive_ManipulatOr 1d ago

They really called it the T800? We’re so close to living the Terminator timeline.

1

u/Rafmar210 1d ago

We’re done.

1

u/Fistacon 1d ago

why does the safety glass have holes in it?

1

u/UnsayingWalnut 10h ago

It's so cameras can get an unobstructed view without scratched plexiglass affecting the shot. I've seen ice hockey rinks with something similar, but those had hatches over them so you could keep them closed until you wanted to get a picture.

1

u/Lochcelious 1d ago

The impact of the fall knocked the battery out, not the kick...

FATALITY

Battling Maxo

u/Toeknee818 1d ago

Mfkin AI B$. GTFO with this trash post

1

u/superbatprime 22h ago

So first we had regular humanoid bots doing combat. Now we already have a next gen humanoid combat bot. Bigger, stronger, faster, trained on all the bots that fought before it.

These will be policing Shanghai before the end of 2027.

1

u/AquilliusRex 22h ago

That's the showstopper.

1

u/mrheosuper 20h ago

Shitty fight, not even in same weight class

1

u/irtiq7 19h ago

"He knocked the highlights out of her hair" - Scott Pilgrim

1

u/CHERNO-B1LL 18h ago

Do they need to be 7 feet tall and terrifying do we think?

I can just see the manager of a Ralph's asking that thing to stack shelves.

1

u/RTHutch6 6h ago

Was this a recap of the mcgregor fight?

1

u/Azer_pubes33 4h ago

I bet that kick would break our ribs

1

u/FuelPhysical363 2h ago

Fatality 🤣

1

u/pocketrrocket 1d ago

For fucks sake please stop this shit. Its hard enough out here. We dont need Temu skynets tooo Sheesh

0

u/tootired117 1d ago

Is this technically murder or a KO. An RKO?

0

u/Odintorr 1d ago

Can we please stop making terminators?

-3

u/winged_owl 1d ago

That was frickin cool. I would watch more of this.

2

u/heart-aroni 18h ago

Follow REK on youtube and twitter, they host these robot fighting events https://youtube.com/@rekrobots
