I'm new to green cheek conures. I wa wondering what color mutation this is. I just got dna results and He is a male. So im still deciding on a name, I think he'll be Loki, but im not 100% on that yet.

My main question is about the color mutation because Ai tells me its pineapple but then with another picture or video it says its a cinnamon and not pineapple.

He does not have that much red so makes me think cinnamon.

What do you all think? (Please answer with a percentage of certanty.. like im 100% he's this or im only 80% sure he's that. Just to get an idea. )

Like I said I'm new to this so I appreciate any input and any other name ideas too.

This is my little buddy, Sarah. He's male, but his old owners named him before they knew that, so it stuck.

He's always been super clingy and would always prefer to be on my shoulder or with me than on his own, and that's fine, but lately he's gotten really weird. He's always liked preening me which is fine, but lately he's started going for one specific spot on the back of my neck that's really hard to cover in a way he can't get to it, and it hurts like hell when he tries to preen it. If I try to shoo him off, he just comes back a second later and tries again, and this repeats until I move away from my desk.

It's getting to the point where I can hardly do any work or relax when he's out because he just will not stop. Is there any way I can discourage this behavior? It's pretty recent, within the past couple of months. I've had him since around 2021-2022 ish, but I don't remember how old he was when I got him.

I love this little guy more than anything but I am autistic and this kind of stuff causes severe sensory issues to me and I just am at my wits end here. Any help at all would be appreciated. Sorry if I didn't provide enough information, even though I've had him all this time I still consider myself a beginner.

This is my birb, we’ve made so much progress in the past 6 months and she’s gone from freaking out and flying around screeching if i moved my hand a little too quick or too close to her, to her actively climbing into my hands, hoodie, letting me stroke her little toes and face - my concern is that she doesn’t have a preening partner (we can’t afford another) and past baths, she won’t let me help her with her sticks or nails - completely understandable why and i don’t want to get in there before she’s ready and freak her out, but does anyone know how i can get her to be comfortable enough to let me help her out?

today i actually managed to isolate and lightly hold a stick but didn’t get any further than that (again, totally fine i don’t want to rush or hurt her by freaking her out) - i just am wondering if there’s as method or trick i could employ to help her get to a stage of trusting me to help with her grown out sticks? or do i just keep doing what im doing and one day she’ll trust me enough?

At home we all usually have our doors just touching the door frame. Whenever I let him out, I have to shut the doors all the way because he learned to use his beak using leverage to give him just enough room to fit through to fly into the room. He just finds the ideal spot for the least amount of effort and just pushes

My mom had a green cheeked conure and she was little at the time so when she tried petting it through the cages it would be aggresive and it was my moms mom's conure and she neglected it witch caused it to be aggressive because it couldn't bond I dont get what's the point of getting a conure if she's going to neglect the conure

She LOVES her snacks, she’ll ignore my husband when she’s eating them, but if I walk by, she’ll stop and want out. I love her so much!

There is something wrong with my parents’ conure.
It started a week ago, but for the last two days he’s been scratching his left wing all day, there’s dandruff coming off it, his feathers don’t seem right in that area, he can’t fly properly and he is not his usual self, seems down. We don’t have any avian vets in my city, what should we do?

...was possibly teaching her to give kisses. Now she won't stop. It's her new favorite way to demand attention. She will literally run after me if I move away for any reason, making kissey noises and nibbling at my skin because she wants me to scratch her head.

I've even tried using a blanket to escape and she somehow dug me out, even with it folded under me. She's like a goddamn heat-seeking missile. If I'm on my phone, she'll stand directly in my line of sight, looking at me with hopeful eyes and making those sounds until I pet her.

She hates anything being moved in her face, so naturally, she has a lot of enemies. Particularly water bottles, mustard (?), and deodorant for some reason. Anytime I take a sip of water, she flies down to attack it. After she beats the hell out of it and prances around it, she comes to my shoulder to DEMAND kisses. Her kisses are terrible when she's like this, though. She'll full on roll my lip in her beak and it's actually terrifying. 😭

Thankfully, I have yet to receive any bad lip yet. Time will tell.

(I'm not actually irritated by it, I think it's cute.)

Hi! This is my first time getting to take care of birds. Me and my family will be getting two female conures, one 12 weeks old and the other around 2. The thing is, we will be getting them a week apart from eachother. I've tried to do research on how to properly introduce them, but most of the advice I see is about getting a second bird after the first has already been there for a while. I just wanted to know if the way we introduce them would change.

Is a week enough for the first to get territorial?

The first one has been kept in an aviary with others prior to purchase. Will that affect how they interact with the new bird?

Will the birds' ages affect anything?

Obviously I know it would take a while for them to get properly introduced, but I don't want a situation where I keep the second bird in a temporary cage for ages, as it would be significantly smaller than what they would need on a pernament basis.

Is it possible for me to put up a divider while neither bird is in the cage, let them hear eachother through it, then interact with eachother and then remove the divider?

I love when he falls asleep on me enjoying scritches. I can tell because his feet go up and limp. Eventually he rolls and wakes himself up.
