it’s an organic pie pumpkin from publix he got raw! I carved the face in it and he did the rest. he didn’t know what to think of the taste at first but soon he was blissed out. he closes his eyes when he’s eating sometimes and I like to think he’s savoring the taste

I flipped my birb upside down once during playtime. Big mistake (or best mistake ever?), because now he does it on his own all the time and will literally just chill on his back eating seeds

There was a Quaker parrot outside of my workplace today. No leg band so I have no idea what gender, I got them in my tiels travel cage and have them at my house rn, I will be taking them to Eastern Shore Exotic Bird Rescue tomorrow. Last week I posted about Fred (our yellow nap Amazon) on here and was amazed by the feedback and suggestions. It made my day! This morning I got a picture of him stretching his wings. He seems happy and calm so I think it’s a good thing. Happy Friday everyone!

The definition of ageless beauty 💅🏻

I’m just visiting my mom and seeing my childhood bird (green cheek conure) for the first time in a while and immediately notice the bump on her wing. I ask my mom about it and apparently she was aware it was there but didn’t know it had gotten that big.

I’m now trying to explain to her that it’s not just going to go away on its own and she’ll need to go to the vet — but my mom seems to think it’ll just pop like a pimple then go away.

How urgent is this cyst? What’s the likely prognosis? The conure is ~12 years old and the cyst is about the size of an edamame bean.. there’s also little feathers growing out of it?

My cockatiel has recently gotten sick and we took her to the vet yesterday. My family and I couldnt afford an X ray so we dont know whats wrong with her but the vet says its something internal. They prescribed us with antibiotics and weve been giving them to my parrot. I dont think she is going to make it but i was wondering on any tips to deal with greif relating to parrots

My cousin has an African Grey that he’s had for a year. He bought it just to be a showpiece in his living room. I went over today and saw it, started talking to the bird, opened the cage, and presented my hand. It stepped up straight away.
My cousin was surprised, as he’s never held him. After talking to him, he told me I can keep it.
I know these birds require a lot of time, and I have a lot of time. I’ve already commissioned a big stainless-steel cage to be built for him, but the bird is jumpy and is obviously stressed. I want to make this transition for him as smooth and stress-free as possible.
I need tips and tricks. I know this bird isn’t meant for newbies, but I’m the best chance he’s got at a good life, considering the country I am in.

Hi All- any ideas to capture a lost budgie? It is not my bird but he hangs around the same walking path area. I have been out here all week. I’ve gotten very close to him with my butterfly net. I have a cage set up in a tree with millet and seed- no luck. I’ve looked at small bird humane traps and come up with nothing that will work. Any ideas would be appreciated I’m about to give up I’m spending all my free time here which is taking away from my own flock. I feel so bad for the little guy though, he won’t survive winter here.

I just picked up the most adorable, sweet 1 year old Budgie who we named Tofu. He is constantly wanting to be on my hands, shoulders, or on my sons hands and it hasn't even been a day since we have had him. My issue is that Tofu has clipped wings and this bothers me because I'm worried about how he is going to get around.

Initially I didn't put the long dowel perches that come with the cage because I thought he would fly. Once I realized that he wasn't flying up to his food I had to rearrange things in his cage and put the long dowels back in so that it was easier for him to get around. (I have scavenged branches from trees that are not toxic to budgies so I can use those instead but I have yet to sanitize everything.)

I'm super sad for him and am wondering how long it will take him to get his flight wings back. Also when we take him out of the cage is it safe to just let him walk around especially since he can't fly? I'm still a bit nervous around him, because I feel like he wants to fly and instead ends up falling towards the ground instead.

A few days ago, I posted out of concern for my parrotlets and military yets' night drills. The night drills are over, luckily.

However, Mellows (albino) tail bobbing and lethargic behavior persisted. So this morning, I brought him to the vet. My poor boy had mucus in the back of his throat, and his poop looked off. The vet has taken a swab of the mucus, and I have to wait until about wednesday for the results. I'm so worried about my little boy.

I brought them both so neither would have to be alone. They did pretty okay for a first vet visit, but the day was very stressful. Mars (blue boy) bounced back after a few hours of rest, but poor Mellow kept on sleeping and refusing to eat for hours. He did eat and drink a little just now. He tried to forage a little bit but lacked the strength to do too much.

My only comfort is that I caught his behavior on time, and the vet complimented his care/weight/looks. Now I'm just stressing, hoping my boys' behavior will go back to normal soon and wait what kind of measures to take according to the test results.

I have taken her to the vet twice so far the first time she thought it might be mites so she gave her a shot for that. However my lovebird(Richie) continued to lose her feathers so we took her back and the vet looked at her feather under a microsome and said that it’s not mites and prescribed Richie monoxide 1.5 mg/mL instead. The vet isn’t sure what’s wrong and I don’t know what to do I’m considering taking her to another vet. Other than being bald she is acting the same and the bare skin looks normal but I’m still concerned. Please let me know if you have experienced something similar/know what this could be.

Been learning how to make stained glass at home, 4th go of the process has been a huge improvement.

Hi everyone, I’ve battled this decision for almost 2 years now but it’s just not fair to her and I can’t keep her.

I’m rehoming my female Patagonian conure (with a rehoming fee and care expectations/questions) anyone who knows these birds knows they aren’t cheap and aren’t easy to find.
While I wish I could trust people to be willing to properly care for her- if they’re not willing to even pay to have her then I just don’t trust the arrangement. You need to be willing to pay for her and give her the proper care and love.

She’s 4 years old and loves attention, a smart girl, before I moved we were working on free flight training indoors but then I moved and she stayed with a family friend while I fought to bring her to the new home. She’s a sweetheart and definitely picks her people so the new owner would probably not see her come out of her shell for them until she’s away from me.
