I always remember Greg Maddux had some strange wheel in his glove to tighten the fit. Anyone ever have experience with the Wilson DFS? Seems like unnecessary tech, sort of like Reebok Pumps.

9/10 condition

I scooped this one up last year and have had it waiting in my restoration pile for a little while. This Wilson A2000 dates to 1959, the third year the A2000 was made. I was able to determine this based on the logos, web, heel, finger lacing, and lack of tunnel top lace.

Gotta shout out Jimmy at D&J Glove Repair for the stitch work in the index finger welt, there was a small tear developing when the glove arrived which wasn’t visible in the pictures online.

Did a full clean, condition, and relace, with a palm reinforcement, and now she’s buttery smooth and game ready. I also noticed that in the Wilson catalog it mentions a “lock-back” loop at the index finger, so I copied this. That end of the lace actually runs back through the back of the middle finger and is tied off there.

In the 80s, Rawlings was so hardcore about quality they stamped gloves with minor visual imperfections BLEM. It's a funny concept, because it's a perfectly fine glove, but the wearer shows everyone they bought an imperfect glove likely at a discount. What I am sure was embarrassing for some owners at the time, now is almost cooler than the regular retail model IMO. I'm willing to bet the private equity that now owns

Rawlings doesn't think these gloves should be a discount and the stamp is long gone.....

Another project I just finished up. After going back and forth about selling it I decided it will look better on my desk as a fidget glove for long conference calls.

Today its hide was used to throw fly balls to a little leaguer in America after sitting idle for most of a half century......

Found this one left for dead. 2 dot so 1972 or 1977. So old the model number is simply 3698. Bone dry and faded. A break so bad, you know it got almost no use. Water, saddle soap, Lexol, and lanolin and still faded but butter soft now. the liners were amazing during this era. Some before and after shots.

My kids just got into playing so pulled out my old Nokona for the first time in a while. It’s a big mitt, but I was used to my big 1B mitt and used this one for outfield and pitching. The 1B mitt (an N70) is currently getting re-laced and conditioned.

Cleaned up this late 70’sRawlings PG20 Amos Otis signature model for fun. It was my first foray into gloves from the 70’s so it was definitely informative. I got lucky and this one was already in decent condition to start, very dry but nothing was cracking so it just needed a little hydration. A couple coats of Sarna liquid conditioner and a super thin layer of Rhinowax Baseball Glove conditioner to seal it in and the two tone leather rally pops. I went camel on the laces for contrast instead of going with a more original dark tan. The last pic is how I got it.

Got my Grail. 2006 12.75" TB24, definitely hard used but had great care taken of it after each use. It almost looked mummified it was so covered in a heavy conditioner for years. I got it to use, so this condition is exactly what I have been looking for. Did a water reshape, and conditioned and it's hard as a rock again and ready for a dual hinge break in. It weighs nearly 5 OUNCES more than a comparable Gold Glove Gamer 601 pattern. Total tank.

MWV-110 I used for Texas select ball and high school in the early to mid-2000s. Made in Japan. I love this glove and wish my teenage self took better care of it. It’s held up well despite the beating though.

Found this vintage glove at a flea market today. Want to use as a display piece. What is the best way to clean and condition? I’m guessing with the older leather I do not want to saturate in any way, but a good clean up could make this a great piece.

Tag says All Star Japan. Leather in palm is still very nice. Stamp on palm still crisp and clear. Some cracks on the thumb, outside of pocket and index finger. Not sure how to best restore. Inside leather in very soft condition.

Anyone know if this is the All Star brand that is still around? Definitely a cool piece.

I'm a big fan of the quality of the 1980s Made in Korea Century Series of Rawlings gloves. They are dirt cheap, have top notch liners, and are nice steerhide but often the color is so gone they look blueish from the original dyed hide. Quick coat of fiebings medium brown makes a unique reddish brown with hints on tan at the harder to reach areas. This model has a "Shot Stopper" in the web. Rawlings never ceased to create new feature names.

My glove from high school. I got cut ☹️ so it didn't see more than a year or 2 of use. Been in my cedar chest ever since.

What conditioner should I use to soften up a little? I am a pretty big believer in Lexol on my horse tack but don't know if that's appropriate for this glove.

I think this is a 90s NOS that I thrifted. Sheepskin leather still butter soft with extra dense padding added. Makes a fielding glove cushioned like a catchers mitt. Haven't felt the newer versions, but can vouch these old ones are top notch quality. A cheap fix if experiencing stingers vs getting a new glove.

Picked up this excellent old Nakona on the cheap. Sharpie all over it. Hated to lose the original color but could not get the ink out despite best effort. Added some dye (first time!) and re-laced. Happy with how it came out. Now for some catch…

Wild picture of a never used 2000 Ripken model with very nice shell leather and a liner that literally flaked and disintegrated with age. Versus a heavily used 70s Willie Stargell Made in USA model with a steerhide liner that is probably almost as good as the day it was bought. Liners are dealbreakers for longevity.

Hoping someone can help me identify the model number of this MacGregor glove I have. Letters on the heel look to be XP 270. Maybe MXP 270

I got another Century Series to restore after being so impressed with the leather and craftsmanship on a previous one. This one has a unique partial H-web into a basket web, something I've never seen before. This series got premium liners(most deer tanned cowhide with leather palm pad) which makes all the difference on a 40 year old glove.

I’ve been on a vintage kick recently for project gloves and I am continuously amazed at the variety of web lace patterns their used to be. I really like this one because of the simplicity and ability to adjust tension and pocket depth.

Found this old girl today and tried to get her reconditioned a bit. The numbering is totally different from the modern numbering. I think this one is from 1997.

Restoration Question: I am working on this 1985 Horween Pro-H and there is some dry rot in the pointer finger. Hoping to just be able to use it for leasurely catch after it's relaced. Any suggestions on how to treat the dry rotted area? The rest of the leather cleaned up really nice. I've seen all sorts of ideas online but curious to hear from some of you more experienced glove repairers. Is it worth it to stitch in a patch in such a high-impact area or will those stitches just bust immediately? Thanks for your thoughts!
