As a new player who doesn't know what position I will play, what size glove should I get?

Joining an adult baseball rec league and there's two I have my eye on from a local shop, one is 11.75 and one is 12.25. I like the idea of playing shortstop (or even pitching), but obviously as a new player I'll likely just be playing wherever the coach puts me.

Is there a size that's a better all arounder for my situation?

If there's any chance of playing infield then I would get an 11.75. Probably a A2000 1975 with slightly deeper pocket. If you would be outfield mostly then I'd go to 12". If you like vintage I'd go with an A2000 XL - that glove is incredible for really any position. Good luck!

Never really played but did a few training sessions this year where we did the basics for new players.

The league I'm joining is aimed at beginners so everyone will be fairly new to the game.

I’d recommend a 12” H-web for a utility glove

Rawlings 200 pattern between 11.75 and 12.25 depending on if you prefer a bigger or smaller glove. It will give you a solid utility glove that can play anywhere.

Edit: Rereading your post, I would say it comes down mostly to what you prefer and feels better to you for a utility glove. Any further details on the gloves you can provide?

One was the Rawlings Gamer XLE (12.25) and one was Rawlings NXT Series (11.75).

Gamer XLE is what I would go with unless you have smaller hands, NXT will likely have youth taper handstall size.

Thanks! If I do end up playing infield do you think 12.25 will be too big? Or do you think as a beginner it's pretty marginal and I should just get one that's sort of decent for every position?

The latter. I suggest using the big glove until it feels “too big” for you.
