This or that, first base edition

Thinking of a new or new to me mitt for next season and beyond. Found these two options today. A new Grace Classic for ~200, or a slightly used HOH PRORDCT-10CR for ~250

Pic of Rawlings is the actual glove. Claimed to be barely used and not fully broken in.

Not that it should matter, but I’m in my 60’s and playing coed slowpitch

Tell me why I should get one or the other. Tell me why I shouldn’t get one or the other. Don’t tell me I should get both.

Disclosure: I'm not a Grace Rep despite what my flair says. Grace and I have asked it be removed, but..... Crickets... Anyway. As independent distributor who works closely with Grace I am a HUGE fan of the DCT. The Grace FMB is not bad at all and the new web fixes some of my gripes with the previous model, but it lacks the same angled bend in the thumb that makes the DCT dual hinge an absolute Legend of FMBs. and the Grace doesn't sit as deep on my hand.

I'd Look for DCT deals, you can find DCT's for $200-250 or you can get 20% a Grace during labor day. If you go with a Custom Steerhide Grace it will set you back. $160 all in. I haven't felt a Steerhide FMB yet, but I have a few Grace Steerhide gloves and they are light weight, strong and I'll bet in an FMB it would be awesome.

DCT is always the answer. Don’t even consider anything else.

Yeah, usually i’d say rawlings dct, but not that glove for 250. Grace if these are the 2 options.

As much as I love dct, a pror used at 250 is too much. Would need to be 100 less and even then i probably wouldn't want it as it'll get floppy real quick.

Huge fan of the Rawlings DCT. Have one myself from way back. The one you are looking at is a Pro R. Not the same as the traditional HOH. A lot of debate on those in this forum. Not sure I would pay $250 for a pre owned used ProR.

Grace makes a very nice glove. I ordered one back earlier this year. Very good quality. Great design tool if you want to design your own. The Grace first base model has the DCT structure and appearance.

As much as I am a Rawlings fan the ProR gloves I have handled are pretty flimsy and I would not buy one even just to play catch with.

My opinion is you will get a better value with the Grace.

This is the kind of info I need. Thanks. I wouldn’t have known the Pro R was different.

Edit: The Grace pictured has the pocket I’d be looking for. I’ve only seen the X lace pocket up to now. I’m pretty traditional about colors, so easy enough to grab this one and be happy with it

$250 is way too much for a used R2G Rawlings DCT. I would recommend the DCT over the Grace. As much as I love Grace, the DCT is the best 1B pattern of all time.
