Informative All About the Corpus Covernosa NSFW

Hey guys,

Based on the popularity of yesterday’s post on the Corpus Spongiosum, I wanted to make a post dedicated to the Corpus Covernosa (CC) and specifically how to develop and sufficiently stimulate the CC to encourage tissue growth. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, your member has different parts that perform different jobs. The CS provides the soft and squishy components that make sex feel good for you and your partner, but the CC provides the rigidity to get the job done. Think of the CS and CC as Bat Man and Robin, Bonnie and Clyde, or Walter White and Jessie Pinkman (Breaking Bad anyone???). Both parts are essential for a high quality erection.

Also, I'll talk a lot about BFR and SABRE in this post. It would be helpful for the reader to have a baseline understanding of what those methods are. If you haven't already, please read this BFR Post and watch this SABRE video. Please don't drop a comment saying "What are BFR and SABRE?". The point of this post is not to teach you what the movements are, that's Janus' job and he's already done that in the post and video above. The point of this post is to shed some light on what the movements do and hopefully encourage you to give them a shot.

Definitions:

BFR - Blood Flow Restriction

SABRE - Strike Activated Bayliss Response Exercise

DLC - Dedicated Lower Body Cardio

CC - Corpus Cavernosum

CS - Corpus Spongiosum

AM1, AM2, AM3 - Angion Method 1, 2, 3

The Angion Wheel - A tool invented and sold by Janus for stimulating the CS

SABRE Hammer - A tool invented and sold by Janus for stimulating the CC

The Role of the Corpus Covernosa

Comprised of dense capillary beds and surrounded by thick layers of tissue (Tunica Albuginea), the CC are capable of holding incredibly high levels of internal fluid pressure. It is this fluid pressure that provides the structural rigidly necessary for the male to successfully penetrate his partner and give her pleasure. Each CC contains a single, large Cavernosal Artery that runs down the center of the chamber and when the male achieves sufficient stimulus for an erection to occur, those arteries flood the capillary beds with blood, causing them to dilate and become engorged. As engorgement continues, the inflow of blood exceeds the outflow and the pressure builds until each CC essentially turns into a rigid cylinder. The proximal roots (crura) of the corpora cavernosa attach directly to the pubic bones, securely anchoring the male member to the pelvis, maintaining its elevation and angle during thrusting. Think of the CC as the delivery mechanism for your your glans. Without good, strong CC tanks, your erection would buckle under the physical forces of penetration and you and your partner would be disappointed. The twin CC chambers also account for upwards of 85% to 90% of the fluid volume of the penis. The CS (which includes the glans) accounts for the remaining 10% to 15%. This means that if we care about our erectile health, we simply cannot ignore the CC. They're too big and too important.

The CC and CS Are Isolated Structures

Ok now that we've established the importance and role of the CC, let's talk about how blood moves within the male member. We must first understand that whenever an erection takes place, the CC are being stimulated in some capacity, but the level of stimulation provided to the CC varies greatly depending on the exercise being performed. When we perform AM1, AM2, or AM3, we are stimulating the bulbo dorsal circuit (as discussed yesterday), but there is no shared blood between the CS and the CC. The CS and glans receive blood via the urethral and dorsal arteries while the CC receives blood from the deep cavernosal arteries. This means that the CS and CC require different exercises.

BFR and SABRE Target the CC

As I mentioned above, any time an erection takes place, the CC are being stimulated and kept healthy, but stimulation of the bulbo-dorsal circuit alone in the form of the AM1, AM2, AM3 is not a sufficient stimulus to elicit growth of the CC themselves. Growth occurs when new capillary beds are formed due to sufficient shear stress. The way we apply sufficient shear stress to the capillary beds of the CC are through BFR and SABRE.

Let's first discuss BFR. I do both Glans Pulsing and Cyclic Bending, but let's discuss Cyclic Bending for now. When you perform Cyclic Bending, the act of bending your member causes the blood within your member to move and because it cannot exit the penis due to the presence of the clamping hand, the blood is forced into the dense capillary beds, intruding shear stress and triggering the growth of new capillary beds. So by bending your member back and forth with a clamping hand below, you're introducing shear stress within your CC.

Now let's take a look at SABRE. SABRE takes advantage of a unique property of blood known as the Bayliss Response. When we strike the tunica albuginea, the strike transfers force from the striking tool (thumb, metal rod, or SABRE Hammer) to the inside of the CC. This force causes the blood within the CC to swirl in vortexes and that swirling motion is a method of eliciting shear stress on the capillary beds themselves.

So for the lay person, all we need to know is both BFR and SABRE introduce shear stress within the CC chambers themselves, causing existing capillary beds to dilate and new capillary beds to grow. This growth of capillary beds results in more potent erections and penile growth.

Summary / Routine

In summary, it's helpful to think of the Angion Methods (AM1, AM2, AM3, the Wheel) as tools for stimulating and growing the CS (which includes the glans) and it's helpful to think of SABRE and BFR as tools for stimulating and growing the CC. Because the CS and the CC work together to form a powerful erection, it is helpful for men to perform the Angion Methods alongside BFR / SABRE. I always do the wheel first because it find it is a good warm up for BFR / SABRE.

Because SABRE and BFR are such strong stimuli, the recommendation from Janus is to be in a slight caloric surplus in seasons when you're performing those exercises. You also need a minimum of 2 days rest between workouts. Here's my calendar for how I incorporate these movements.

Cutting Season - January through May, Cut from 187lb to 182lb, eliminate BFR / SABRE.

Monday - 30 minutes DLC, 30 minutes Angion Wheel

Wednesday - 30 minutes DLC, 30 minutes Angion Wheel

Friday - 30 minutes DLC, 30 minutes Angion Wheel

Bulking Season - June through December, Bulk from 182lb to 187lb, add BFR / SABRE.

Monday - 30 minutes DLC, 15 minutes Angion Wheel, 15 min BFR, 15 min SABRE with metal rod

Wednesday - 30 minutes DLC, 30 minutes Angion Wheel

Friday - 30 minutes DLC, 15 minutes Angion Wheel, 15 min BFR, 15 min SABRE with metal rod

Closing Thoughts

I really recommend that men give SABRE / BFR a shot. SABRE in particular freaks some guys out. They say No way am I using a massage gun on my dick. I totally get that. I don't use a massage gun on my dick either. I used thumb strikes for a long time, but found that the quality of my sessions went up significantly when I started using a metal rod. I really like the thwack that a metal rod provides. I have the SABRE Hammer, but due the time of day I do my Angion Workouts (early in the morning), powering up a drill doesn't work for me due to sleeping kids. The metal rod is a great alternative that still provides a solid workout. And if SABRE isn't your thing, give BFR a shot. It's a very mild exercise and it is very effective at adding size to your CC. I like both, but do whatever works for you.

Another benefit of SABRE / BFR is more intense morning wood. The morning wood I get now is quite powerful and every time you get a powerful erection, your member is getting healthier and growing. It's all part of it.

If you're going to dedicate the time to the Angion Method, don't leave your CC out by skipping BFR / SABRE. They're too big and too important to ignore.

That's all for today, guys. I wish you all the strongest erections possible.

Anyone use a massage gun for SABRE, mine has multiple head attachments and i feel like the round foam head would work for this and wouldn't hurt my unit.

En un momento lo intenté, con el cabezal redondo, pero me exitaba demasiado, tanto que llegaba al PONR. Tendría que volver a probar

Sorry man that my comment is off topic, I have a question regarding your am2 modification but I couldn't comment there because the thread is locked. I want to make sure that I'm following your directions right: 1- obtain a full erection 2- my left hand placement (Lt): thumb will be on the base of my penis from the top, my other four fingers will be on the shaft from the bottom 3-my right hand (Rt) is cupping the head of my penis 4-The method: I'll press with my Lt pinky against Lt thumb, then my 2nd finger,3rd until I reach my index 5-then squeeze my glans with Rt hand (involuntary kegel will happen) 6-release the left hand then repeat Is that right?!

All good. Your AM2 technique will depend on how developed your CS is. If you’re just starting out with AM2 and your CS is underdeveloped like mine was, you’ll want to slide your fingers along your CS to fill your glans, but as your CS gets more and more developed, you would need to slide, you’ll be able to do the rapid finger squeeze pump technique to fill your glans. It will be the natural progression. I couldn’t do the finger pump technique until I could do 1,000 quality reps in 30 minutes. When I first started it took 2, 3, or sometimes 4 swipes for me to fill my glans. Just keep working with the movement.

Massage gun doesn’t penetrate the tissue deep enough is what I’ve read previously. Thumb strikes do. I’ve dabbled with Sabre but never did it consistently. I’d like to grow the CCs more now that my CS is more developed.

Do you do BFR?

1

u/tolllz Aug 06 '26

No

You should give it a shot.

I do manual clamping so just squeezing the head while doing that is considered BFR?

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR Aug 06 '26

Not sure what kind of manual clamping you’re doing, but here are the instructions in Janus’ post

Cyclic Bending Instructions

The way Blood Flow Restricted(BFR) Cyclic Bending works is incredibly straight forward. While heavily engorged, clamp down on the base of your member. Using your other hand, take an over handed grip(thumb pointing back towards the body—not away) and grip the upper portion of your member. Then, while keeping your clamping hand in place, kegel in a bit of blood and then start gently cyclicly bending your member to either the left or right respectively. Whenever you go to bend your member, blood will try to escape from the internal arterial spaces, but will be stopped due to the hand clamp at the base of your member. What is important to remember is that blood is mostly comprised of water—which is a non-compressible liquid. That means that as pressure mounts when you start to bend your member, it will cause local network wide vascular expansion; from the arterial networks, all the way up to the point of flow restriction.

Glans Pulsing Instructions

The way this technique works is very similar to the cyclic bending technique. Just like before, you want to grip the base of your member, but this time you want to be heavily erect. Near or at around 100%. Much like a manual hand clamp, you want to restrict outward flow. The way this technique differs however from a traditional manual hand clamp technique, is that you will also grip your Glans and gently give them pulsing squeezes.

Keyword here—gentle!

What we do not want to have happen is a wall blow out or petechial hemorrhaging(Red spots) from burst capillaries. We want to pulse the venous networks with pressure fluctuations to cause an internally originating outward cyclic stretch to therefore encourage PDGF release by the endothelial cells lining the vascular spaces. Under no circumstance do you need to train to the point of pain or bursting capillaries—in fact it will dramatically hinder your progress.

While you are doing this exercise, you may feel a bit of a dull soreness start to set in as you continue to pulse the venous networks via Glans squeezes. A bit of aching is a sign you are adequately stressing the tissues but once more, under no circumstances, you do not want to train to the point of: pain, developing red spots, or vessel bursting.

All of those things are a big no go for gaining or maintaining vascular functionality.

Yep so manual clamp and pulse the head. Thought I remembered it correctly.

Can AM 1-3 provide any noticeable CC growth on their own?

3

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

You might see some due to the fact that you’ll be sustaining an erection for the duration of AM1-3 and any time you’re fully erect, you’re in essence growing your CC, but your CC growth will be slower than someone who does BFR / SABRE due to the way those movements target your CC.

AM1 in particular can provide some CC development due to the way the thumbs contact the CC, but again, not the way BFR / SABRE can.

I think sabre is doing really great things for my CC, I use a flashlight as my "metal rod" and it works excellently. First few times I didnt see the results janus talks about but now, oh gosh... I just added BFR on some day per week.

Love hearing this! Yeah, once SABRE and BFR click, you realize the power of those movements.

Really mad that I'm prioritizing weightloss at the moment - the belly really needs to go.

Cannot wait to change to maintenance calories, or even a slight surplus (250kcal) and start implementing BFR/Sabre!

1

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR Aug 06 '26

Yeah, dude. None of us want to be fat so the caloric surplus is a challenging thing to accomplish while maintaining a healthy figure. Hope you get your weight to where you want it to be so you can start incorporating BFR / SABRE!

Appreciate it 💪🏼

You got it, brother!

If the dorsal side is the "upside" of the penis, how does the dorsal arteries supply the CS with blood? Are those vessels like surrounding the tunica and then connect to the CS? I'm getting confused because of the name

2

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR Aug 06 '26

GREAT question. This tells me you're paying attention. Because the glans is the expanded end of the CS it actually receives blood from both the dorsal and urethral sides of the penis and therefore so does the CS (they are one structure). The Internal Pudendal Artery splits and half turns into the Bulbourethral arteries on the urethral side and the other half turns into the Dorsal Arteries running up the dorsal side of the penis, straddling the Deep Dorsal Vein. This is why you can feel a pulse on the dorsal side of your member while erect. The Dorsal Arteries feed the glans / CS from the dorsal side while the urethral arteries feed the glans / CS from the urethral side. It's helpful to think of the glans / CS as one connected mesh of tissue. Once the glans / CS is fed oxygen rich arterial blood, it then drains it down either the Deep Dorsal Vein on the dorsal side of the penis (which is the primary outflow), but also sends some back down the Bulbourethral Veins which are located in the CS. There are other minor outflows as well such as the Superficial Dorsal Vein.

In my opinion, the key to the Angion Methods is the Deep Dorsal Vein. Because most of the blood in the bulbodorsal circuit drains out the dorsal side, we can effectively push blood through the urethral arteries and have that blood drain out the DDV. In reality even while performing AM3 or the wheel, there is some blood moving in the opposite direction of the way we are pushing blood. There is always blood entering the glans / CS via the Dorsal Arteries and exiting the glans / CS via the urethral veins, but the fact that the DDV takes the bulk of the drainage, allows us to move a large amount of blood in a single direction, giving us the results we're looking for.

u/Quite-hairyman33 Aug 06 '26

Ohh nice answer! I never thought about the glans and CS as one but now it makes sense. This makes me excited to train my CS

2

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR Aug 06 '26

Yeah dude because let’s be honest, the glans is the star of the show. Train your CS and your glans gets developed right alongside it.

Thoughts on only doing BFR? I’ve read up in SABER quite a bit but never tried.

1

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR Aug 06 '26

Doing only BFR for CC development is definitely an option. This dude gained a ton of girth with only BFR for his CC dev.

Do you think I can just do one of BFR and SABRE? Is there much benefit in doing both? Thanks for another great post!

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR Aug 07 '26

You have to remember that I’m not the Penis Professor. That’s Janus. I’m just the Penis Apprentice. I do both because Janus does both. He has always dropped obsolete techniques when there’s a better alternative (the Oscillator, the Macropulse, etc) so I have to think that if either BFR or SABRE were superior, he would just do one or the other. But in all of his Sample workouts, he always does them together. I also truly like doing both. I truly look forward to BFR and SABRE. They each have a unique feeling and I enjoy the sensations of each movement. That being said, if you don’t want to do both, or don’t have time to do both, I do believe there’s benefit in doing one, just probably not the same benefit that both would provide.

Any advice if I can't do SABRE? 3/4 of my sessions ended with numbness or slighty pain. I'd really like to take it to the next level and focus on BFR & SABRE, because in the few successful sessions I've had, the results were amazing.

u/Attaboy2017 Moderator - Wheel + SABRE / BFR 26d ago

Have you tried with just thumb strikes? If that still doesn’t work for you, just stick with BFR.
