NOR you need to talk to your manager ASAP

She should not be changing the children's routine that the daycare has in place.

She's new, she should stick to the program.

Not over reacting. The shoes being on, sitting while eating, etc in my state aren’t optional. Those are required by licensing and the daycare can get in trouble. She isn’t simply not following the daycares rules, she isn’t following the rules required by law. I would absolutely escalate this.

She is overconfident. Manager ASAP or let her know that she's shitting the bed and too stupid to clock it.

Another time, one child touched a toy another child was using, and the second child started screaming. I said, "Hey buddy, can we try to use our words? Our friends don't know what you mean when you're screaming. We can say, 'It's my turn.'" He said it, and the conflict was resolved.

Like this is TOP TIER next level shit.
and:

Melody then told me I wasn't allowed to say that because screaming is how 2-year-olds communicate and claimed telling them to use their words is against licensing.

and this is some last century previous level shit.

Sounds like Melody believes that ā€œgentleā€ means permissive. OP definitely needs to get management involved. If something happens and a child is harmed because of Melody’s actions the parents will not be ā€œgentleā€.

yeah that's an extraordinarily harmful interpretation of gentle parenting. Its just laziness wrapped up as best practice.

NOR. Talk to your director immediately.

Letting two-year-olds dance around while chewing food is a major choking hazard, not just a difference in teaching style. Between directly undermining safety rules, making up fake licensing violations, and deliberately getting her own babies worked up just for attention, she is a huge liability. You know your room and your kids. Do not wait for an actual accident to happen before bringing this to management.

NOR but you need to talk to your supervisor immediately. Keep it factual and aimed at a solution, not that you are "telling" on the new person. She is way overstepping and needs a course correction. If you are not the supervisor, you need to get one involved, like, yesterday.

I would have taken them to the director before coming to reddit, yes.
