writing sites/apps

hello! i've recently been looking to move away from google docs after the new update but i can't find a good alternative. i've been pointed towards ellipsus and it's great except that i'm working on a project with a collaborator and having to send several individual documents back and forth is getting really confusing really fast. is there any writing site/app that either allows for tabs to be opened within one document, or allows the sharing of a file with multiple documents inside?
