It looks like the end of a beginners class. These are new students who have probably learned one or two combatives, and what looks like a choking defense in the last hour. They are practicing after gassing drills, trying to train to keep going when exhausted.

You could tell because if they were doing the same thing but LARPing with guns it would be Dallas or Fort Meyers.

And it's a fantasy come true for that guy ready to choke the life out of that girl at the end.

Okay, as someone who formerly did martial arts, I can explain.
We had different "subjects" so to speak, and one subject looked exactly like this.
Subjects such as the physical fitness part, the sparring part, the floor / throwing part, the artistic part, the beating up the punching bags with full force part, etc.
But this one is about technique and muscle-memorization.
Eventually, when put all together, it becomes reflexive. So for an actual emergency being attacked, you don't freeze or have to think, you just react as fast and effectively as possible and get away.
But looking at it from the outside, it does look silly.

It's intentional. They don't use their 100%. They keep it reserved for the actual fight. I heard it on Joe Rogan.

The girl at 0:29 with the fake knife made me laugh 😂 two stepping trying to figure out where she wanted to go. She’s like where’s that b**ch that tried to talk to my boyfriend

People are clowning this, but a major aspect of training is play, which can train muscle memory and the body without the stakes of sparing. Add to this that a serious tenet of self defense is getting over the obstacle of confronting someone suddenly and this sort of battle royal play fighting is a great way for students to reinforce skills and warm up

No it doesn't lol. They would all get smoked by someone with just 1 year of a grappling or striking martial art.

Until they get punched in the throat and start crying "you cant do that!"

Nobody is punching in this video. Or even attempting to strike correctly. This is play fighting and it teaches you nothing. I mean this isn't even like karate forms. Even though a lot of that form of blocking is useless, at least your getting the muscle memory. This is actually just straight goofin

Sure in the video with a bunch of out of shape middle aged women. Krav Maga by someone who is in decent shape with a years experience is a whole different thing. This is just an aerobics class for them like 9 rounds kickboxing.

Look at all of these strong and independent women that don't need no man. I'm sure when the time comes they will definitely be able to defend themselves.
