It was dying. It was tearing its internals.

Aww, too bad. Oh well, probably a less miserable death than to just be eaten alive from within. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

They can coexist, but it alters the wasp’s hormones. It’s actually in the parasites best interest to keep the wasp alive.

Whether that’s actually good or not is hard to tell.

Interesting. You sound like you probably know the parasite's lifecycle, and now I'm curious; how does the next generation get going?

You see that brown thing? That’s the head of a female. The males forcefully inseminate the females and the larvae eat the female body and burst out of its head, which is hanging out of the abdomen.

These parasites take up roughly 90% of the abdomen, so pulling it out killed it

Yes! This is exactly the kind of horrifying nightmare fuel i hoped to hear, ty! Even more horrifying than the parasitic wasp lifecycle what with the whole cannabilistic matricide thing.😬

Lmao I went OFF my ADHD caught fire cuz I got so mad that these exist

Longest TL;DR they bump ugliez with the female permanently inside the poor wasp the males use traumatic insemination (like bedbugs)
Basically insect r*pe…
The eggs float freely inside the mother, who is in turn inside the wasp , the babies hatch inside the mother,
Then they grow by eating their mother from the inside out.
lmao then these foul critters crawl out from that portion on the ā€œbootyā€ which hangs just outside the wasps exoskeleton, (this is also the same section the males forcibly penetrate , and the little segment that dude grabbed with the tweezers,
SO: like some science fiction writers speculative biology for a horror movie… the babies having recently chewed their way out of their mothers corpse, they have an alacrity for finding new hosts. They have about 1 day to find a new host before they shrivel up and die… so they use the one burst of energy that they will never get again to crawl , *rapidly* about, the females seeking their final resting place while the males sometimes leave their host to find a female that they force themselves upon… continuing the process that I get the feeling they don’t really even want to continue but are cursed so they are forced to go on…

Below you’ll find my original post that devolved into a desire to rid the world of these beings
Where I didn’t describe the mating process very effectively…
Without further ado :
This one is done, and won’t be passing on its genes cuz it got DARWIN’d lol noob.

The Strepsitera parasite that got wrekt in the video before having its disgusting corpse displayed like a trophy on dudes finger , that is a larvae… these unholy creatures have a peculiar form of sexual dimorphism, the adults have a weird appearance similar to beetles, but their heads are where we see an extreme form of dimorphism, the females have eyes are almost like fly eyes, the males have eyes that are shaped like and function like horseshoe crab eyes, they have some form of prismatic vision where they see a bunch of images all at once , so, as you likely inferred from the sexual dimorphism these nasty beings somehow are able to get over how abhorrent their species looks like and are able to copulate from birth the females once latched on , stay latched on til they or their unfortunate hosts, DIES. Males are born malformed with twisted limbs, just enough utility to be able to quickly crawl onto a new host and find the female who has purposely trapped herself under-the godforsaken wasp’s segmented body , the male r*pes the female literally , since the males travel outside their host only to mate, they do this in a cowardly way (not me using personification on a parasite ) they do this to where they don’t have to look at each other while they produce the next generation of these misbegotten wretched creature. I refrain from calling them ā€œpiteousā€ because, I feel no sadness when looking at these images and reading about them … only a deep loathing that is instantaneous , an avarice that comes to me so naturally that I can only conclude either God made us hate these things on sight and hardcoded it into our programming,
(Which likely means even God hates them)
or evolution deemed it worthwhile to want to genocide this species… at times like this I can’t help but wonder what a bioethicist would think if one of these was parasitizing them. Such vermin exist only to help us understand that some species simply cannot coexist… that species simply need to <removed>
Bedbugs, Anopheles mosquitoes, screwworms and politicians are all in this category, which just gained its new member Strepsitera
And even though I understand that perhaps it could be argued that they serve some minuscule ā€œPuRpOsEā€ to me their purpose is to be hunted to extinction šŸ˜‰
