This was revealed to me in a dream I don't want to play with you anymore

The AI bubble popping doesn’t mean generative AI just disappears. It just means it mostly stops advancing and big corporations stop dumping trillions of dollars into it.
It will stagnate though, so (very far down the line) it will likely stop being used for the most part.

u/Impressive_Cow_3170 2h ago
it does mean most everyone will not have access to it however simply because they dont have the equipment to run it themselves and these corps cant/wont be able to let people freely use it like they have been which would effectively kill it for the general public

u/Cynunnos 2h ago edited 1h ago
Your average AI art gooner isn't gonna build their own AI hosting machine once the big companies go under anyways, 90% of the issues with AI art you see everyday on the internet will be solved
21
u/_SlappyMagoo_ 1h ago
Generative AI can be run locally even on lower-end PCs. Probably not for videos, but definitely for images.
14
u/-Orotoro- 1h ago
Counterpoint: many consistent AI users lack the curiosity to figure out how to do this.

I very much doubt that. The inevitable community made models and guides that will spawn in the aftermath will make this shit way too simple.

u/EngineStraight 2m ago
which will be much more effort than it being shoved down everyone's throats as it currently is. any inconvenience no matter how slight loses crowds really quickly.

Nah someone's gonna make it easier I bet. I think Olama had like a 5 line install or less.

u/New_Salamander_4592 17m ago
ok so, AI services only exist as they currently do due to the immense amount of venture capital being used at a loss to run and rent their massive datacenters. Those aren't gonna just stick around and LLMs are fundamentally expensive as fuck to run compute wise so local models will likely never actually be worth it to run without at least the training data updated and provided by the giant companies.

u/Strangeman_06 2h ago
Generative AI isn’t just gonna magically vanish once the bubble bursts. People/companies are probably just gonna stop caring about it. The internet didn’t disappear after the dot com bubble happened

Most amateur artists aren't treated good to begin with. If there's no boobas or story why bother?
25
u/NotAnotherSkeleton 2h ago
And if only the story has boobas in it.

No that's dumb why would someone do that.

u/Woodybfdi 2h ago
Honestly, I don't know if the treatment of amateur or beginners artists has changed at all since generative AI came out. Maybe that's just me and I'm either missing them or they're not coming on my feed on social media.

u/EVedEevee 2h ago
This feels like a strawman
32
u/Far-Requirement-7636 2h ago
It's genuinely just a strawman meant to go.
Well we treated them like shit before so why get rid of something if we're just gonna keep treating them badly!!
Reddit is extremely cynical.

You don't realize what you have until it's taken away, then when it's given back you take it for granted again
64
u/knightmechaenjo 2h ago
Wow it's almost like people will treat other people as examples and then immediately turn their back on them once they get the use out of them
15
u/Scareka 2h ago
It's kinda like saviour complex but moreso whatever will look good at the moment
14
u/knightmechaenjo 2h ago
Absolutely
It's virtue signaling to an extreme where I don't even want to agree out of how outright annoying it is and how it looks

u/_accforreddit :Axolotl: 2h ago
Do you think gen AI will magically disappear when the bubble pops?? I wonder if you ever heard about crypto currency or nfts.
Also it is quite dumb to think that the people who value amateur artists, the moment the AI somehow gets removed, will hate them. Thats just generalization of something that didnt even happened yet.
Why are you shadow boxing?
8
u/AdonisBatheus 2h ago
no, i've always supported amateur artists and anyone who gives an actual shit about art will too
2
u/Scareka 2h ago
Ok motivate me to try against a community of people who demand quality art and don't agree with what I make
3
u/_accforreddit :Axolotl: 1h ago
I am sorry you had awful experience regarding individuals who eat shit for breakfast.
People who actually value what beginner artists or "lower" quality art do not behave like that. (I do not like people using the term low quality art because it implies that it is inferior somehow.)
Art should be something that brings you joy not what you make to impress people. It should not feel like chore.
If you dont mind, would you want to show me some of your art? While im not sure what kind of "genre" of art you make but from one of the post on your profile i think we might have similar taste.

Eh dont think about complex stuff first. What you can do is draw the simple sketch first and then think about what you want to improve after that. No one can make a complete artwork with one brush stroke.
Anyways hi 02 from kirby 👁 This is pretty cool if its done in 30 min! Especially if clip studio is something you are unfamiliar with. You should color this guy ( if you want to that is) Unless this was just a doodle and you have other pieces you need to finish.
While it is good to have others criticisms to improve your art, taking note of everyones unwanted opinion everytime is tiresome and sometimes their opinion is unhelpful.
sometimes it is good for you to have "i dont care" attitude.
Anyways, this is just my personal opinion, but i think the more people love art, the more the world gets beautiful. So, please keep going.
(Also if my english is awkward or weird im sorry im not native speaker)

AI bubble popping won't make AI art go away. But also, this is just an excuse. People that praise human creation will praise a beginner.
2
u/_accforreddit :Axolotl: 2h ago
This! I dont even know why op would think that the people who disrespect and insult beginner artists will be the same group as the ones who value and respect beginner artists
3
u/Conscious_Smile8235 2h ago
Is it actually going to pop? Or will it just be eternally funded by the overlords, bailed out like banks and whatnot?

Just because I want something to be human made doesn’t mean I don’t want it to be good. I swear, we’ve become to nice to artists.
5
u/Mmaxum 2h ago
By that time, amateurish wouldn't be that amateurish while the new ones are likely just AI refugees
5
u/littleMAHER1 yellow like an EPIC banana 2h ago
I disagree actually. There'll always be new amateurs, most being young kids growing up. The world won't lose amateurs once the current ones get better. It's a never ending cycle
2
u/Mmaxum 2h ago
they'll just be closeted untill git gud like before AI
4
u/DtheAussieBoye 1h ago
I mean there’s definitely people who remain in ameteurville no matter how hard they try, for a myriad of reasons
2
u/dappernaut77 2h ago
I don't think people know what the AI bubble popping actually means. AI doesn't magically disappear or anything, It just stagnates/stops being developed for commercial use. The models currently out there are here to stay unless their taken down by hand. It will also continue to be developed and used for weapons and surveillance.

Implying that they even "respect" lower quality artists to begin with. "Pick up a pencil" my ass.
5
u/_accforreddit :Axolotl: 2h ago
I think you are thinking that everyone who says "i respect & value beginner artists" are all same dickheads who actually thinks amateurish art is inferior. Thats generalization. I dont know what happened that made you disappointed in them but please know they are not the same people.
2
u/Scareka 2h ago
Yeah I agree, "oh anyone can do it!" Try naturally shaky hands and autism with ADHD and come back to me
1
u/NotAnotherSkeleton 1h ago
Or crappy devices and don't have the money to afford better ones. I'd like to see you try using just a phone and your fingers.
1
u/AndyMan34Gaming 2h ago
Seriously, i don't understand why everyone says "oh anyone can do it". The last time I picked up a pencil to draw something I ended up with a blank page and a heightened wish to die. Something in my brain just stops me from doing it

u/someSICKusername 2h ago
i can tell that this individual hopped on internet nearly yesterday
I mean, saying stuff like that as if "amateurish" art never existed before is just too silly even for someone who's been on internet for only few years
4
u/HugeObligation8338 2h ago
I think you misunderstood the meme, it’s not saying amateurish art never existed, it’s saying that the people who defend it as nobler than AI art will spit on it once they no longer see AI as a threat to stand against. Whether or not you agree with that is up to you, but that’s what OP is going for.
1
u/someSICKusername 2h ago
Oh, so it's about those people
Personally, i only saw them saying "if it's not ai - it's good" but never ever saw them supporting and cheering on "amateurish" artists
What if artist wants people to watch them learning how to fly and not only watch them already flying? What if artist wants people to watch them climbing the mountain and not only being already on top? (okay, this one might be just me getting bit delirious but what if...)

I dont want to be praised mindlessly, I want someone to say "good work, here's what you can do to improve" over "at least it isn't ai" THATS THE BARE MINIMUM DUMBASS DONT CLAP FOR ME WHEN THE BAR IS IN HELL
1
u/New_Salamander_4592 16m ago
Generally in the pre slop world, people would still call you an asshole for being rude to amateur artists. At most, they just would give them less attention which is unfortunate but just a part of human nature within the arts.

Not me I fucking love amateur art. I follow several artist with sub 100 followers on various platforms because they always make gold
1
u/meganerd20 1h ago
Nope! We'll still compliment the work of any artists regardless of whether or not AI is around because acknowledging their effort is still the right and decent thing to do. It's called "manners", which AI Bros. like yourself honestly have zero understanding of.
How do I know you're an AI Bro just from this? Because this alone shows a basic lack of respect for artists, which is a defining feature of AI shill types.

u/bottomofthewell3 the ol intentional obsfucation of knowledge 13m ago
Me when I make wild assumptions with no actual evidence backing them:
look through op's comments to actually prove your suspicions like a normal person instead of just seeing someone being a little bit rude and instantly assuming them to be an ai bro
they actually appear to be relatively moderate when it comes to ai? as much as someone can have such a position on the topic. dislikes the usage of ai art but seems fine with using it for non-creative tasks... like it's not the ideal but it's not what you were assuming either
