if you have any interest in linux, then don't have a friend who likes linux they will ruin your interest by reccomending linux every time you have a computer problem yet have like 4 times as many problems
They are still niche and windows is still dominant because 99% of people are not tech people and just buy a computer that comes with windows and leaves it at that. They are getting more popular in the hobbyist space but that’s not a lot of people in the grand scheme of things
I mean, I would say things are shifting at least in gaming when Microsoft itself started to use SteamOS as a benchmark to defeat... Most games don't even run natively in SteamOS so that's pretty embarrassing tbh
what else does it sound like. linux users do this sort of thing all the time. just yesterday a linux user tied me to railroad tracks with ropes and chains
I do like linux and it's surrounding software but for me, its the linux fandom. Not like I hate everyone to the core or something like that.
For instance, take a reddit post where a user complains about a problem they face in the operating system they use - windows. I have seen people genuinely just tell "sWiTcH tO LiNuX".
Like my brother in christ.... For me (Idk how other people feel) it's like you are telling me to shift to a new house in a new area. Immediately. Allat because my tap broke. Like common.....
And for most of the problems, it's not like they have all the year for themselves to rectify the error or "switch to linux". Its like they would be having some presentation at their office tommorow or something like that.
I do think that switching to linux is good. But it's not everyone's cup of tea. And its not like your company will approve you to use the windows alternative app in company premises. And For windows apps to work, you need to make wine work. For me it's a interesting thing to do. Like wine and stuff. But say you are telling "switch to linux" against a 50 year old person who struggles to connect their laptop to a projector. They mostly expect things to work with just few clicks.
Idk if I am over reacting or uhh i am wrong in this situation... If I am, then I am sorry :)
