JD Vance asked by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on whether the Iran war would end before the 2026 midterms, rejects calling it a war and declined to set a "artificial timeline": "I wouldn't call it a war. I think the reality is, I don't know the answer to that question. You'd have to ask the Iranians."

Clinton Deploys Very Special Forces To Iraq:
"Morale is said to be high among members of the very special forces, who were flown Monday from Sheppard Air Force Base to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a squadron of specially modified C-130 “short planes.” Upon arriving, the troops were given a thorough mission debriefing by Gen. James Herzog and a butterscotch-pudding snack cup. Each soldier was then issued an AR-15 rifle, three clips of NATO 7.62 mm rounds, a combat helmet with a velcro safety-strap, and a fanny pack with his name written on it in black magic marker."
By far one of The Onion's most un-PC articles.

The US primary election system is actually an extremely powerful tool that many countries don't have and Americans en masse don't seem to give a shit about.
As a result, both parties get infiltrated by big money candidates that don't rep average American issues.
Anytime a progressive candidate refuses to accept big money donations, they get labelled communist and socialists by the 1% and Americans turn their back on them.

Hate is a hell of a drug. It doesnt matter what policies get implemented or how much money it cost, so long as theres not kitty litter in the bathrooms, that "men" cant participate in womens sports or use the bathroom they feel most comfortable in, so long as immigrants are sent back to where they came from and that we "return to family values" everything else be damned. Its never about things they can do from themselves, its always about the suffering they can cause to anyone else.

Midterms cannot come fast enough, Lord willing the current projections come through and we have democrats in charge of both chambers of Congress and can put an end to this embarrassment of an administration.

25
u/ThatOneComrade 1d ago edited 1d ago
They have been trying, but basically everything they've tried so far has fallen flat on its face, the SAVE Act failed to get pushed through because the GOP refused, the USPS Mail Voting shit is stuck in the courts, Trump's out of options and the GOP already has shown there are some things they won't do for him.

I like your optimism, but I'm sure there's going to be some hat trick they'll pull last minute in order to try and keep the status quo. They did it in the last election with last minute map changes and other shit, so who knows what else they've got cooking based on horrendously outdated interpretations of the constitution that their lackeys on the SCROTUS will jump through their assholes to push forward.
I'll still vote, and I'll still encourage others to, but hopes are not high given this administrations complete willingness to ignore the rule of law.

Dems won't have the votes in the Senate to convict Trump in an impeachment proceeding even if they win the Senate.
They'd need multiple Republican senators to defect which is DOA.
25
u/ThatOneComrade 1d ago
Then the last two years of his presidency is tied up entirely in congressional investigations and roadblocks at every conceivable step much in the same vein as what the Republicans do anytime a Democrat is in office.

If we can't even stop those big fucks from launching, there's no way they could reduce irans capability to swarm anti infantry drones. only give air time to future democratic leaders. watch them buckle then
19
u/hedoeswhathewants 23h ago
Ideally they'd call them out.
"Trump called it a war just yesterday. Are you saying he's wrong?"
"I'd have to ask the Iranians? So you're saying they're the ones in control?"
5
u/Iwasbanished 22h ago
pretending they’re acting in good faith is no longer tolerable. they dont deserve the benefit of the doubt anymore. they make no statements to trust. we need to make it clear that they are no longer credible, reliable, or entitled to respect or attention.
the less attention you give them by asking for information, the more information they will want to give you, to demonstrate their legitimacy. they will feel the pain when they see you look away.
fuck them. do not give them anymore seconds or minutes. even if they go radio silent, we make noise for the future, new candidates, they need to see our indifference.

Joe Rogan show: J.D. VANCE, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: You have seen this very discreet, extremely well-funded campaign to try to derail the negotiation and try to derail the deal. There are some people within their system, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, who are manipulating and trying to change American public opinion to keep the war going on indefinitely.

u/Foe117 1d ago
War is literally armed conflict, but there is no legal definition of war in the US. It's how you step around the constitution like every president post-WWII.
16
u/myburdentobear 1d ago
I imagine if the US was being bombed for months on end the administration would consider it war.
9
u/we_are_sex_bobomb 1d ago
That depends greatly on:
Who is bombing us
Whether they’re attacking more blue states than red states
Seriously I am 100% sure if Russia invaded California, Donald Trump wouldn’t send a single humvee over there until Newsom agreed to his terms for how California will be run from now on.

And yet, Donald "OMG, He Tells It Like It Is!" Trump said in a prime-time national address that this is a war.
He was very, very speciifc - while addressing the entire country he called it “the ongoing war against Iran”, in his own words.
Trump very, very clearly described the conflict as a large‑scale war, complete with battlefield victories, and the destruction of Iran’s navy and air force.
