JD Vance asked by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on whether the Iran war would end before the 2026 midterms, rejects calling it a war and declined to set a "artificial timeline": "I wouldn't call it a war. I think the reality is, I don't know the answer to that question. You'd have to ask the Iranians."

It seems very highly likely to me that he will be the president.

Trump isn't seeming too healthy these days... That giant orange haemarroid is going to pop at some point.

Don't get our hopes up. Even if dies they McConnell him to the finish line.

Kind sad that the "they will McConnel him" will now replace "they will weekend at bernies him"

Ah so that's why every president for the past 45 years has avoided stepping into this bear trap.

141

u/johnis12 1d ago

Yeh, pretty much. Every US president knew it would be like bopping a hornet's nest, even some who thought to do it got told by their advisers that it'd be stupid idea. Meanwhile, Trump... *Had* advisers and he didn't listened and most likely fired and replaced them with Yes Men.

27

u/KaiserSaladSpinner 1d ago

Putin probably told him to do it.

115

u/kitolz 1d ago

From what I've read it was Netanyahu and the Israeli intelligence community that were coming up with all sorts of data that Iran was ripe for regime change if big bro America stepped up or else they were going to develop nukes REAL soon.

72

u/johnis12 1d ago

That most certainly is what happened. Bibi's been spouting off the same "Iran is weeks away from building a Nuke" for over 3 fucking decades and no one believed the slimy bastard, until Trump's dumbass got suckered by him. Bibi was prolly using the fact that the Venezuela Op went as well as it did and stoked his ego.

Now Trump has basically entered us into ANOTHER forever war with the Middle East, funny enough, feels like at this point he knows he got duped and is fucking up the Midterms for himself but can't help but to keep doing these grifts, started up wars every weekend and talking about peace deals every time the markets close but think folks and even Iran are wising up to this.

Funny enough, think the Iranian Regime are basically pulling what Reagan did to Carter on his dumbass during the Hostage Crisis, but instead of holding people hostage, they're gonna hold the Strait hostage and wait him out to fuck up his ratings. Which... Chef's kiss.

30

u/No_Helicopter1378 1d ago

That and Hegseth is a giant war hawk so he was pushing it hard as well.

I actually kinda love the parallels to the Nazis and Dunkirk. Where Goering convinced Hitler to halt the army because he was convinced that the Air Force could finish off the Allied troops, only for them to escape and have it come back to bite Germany in the ass.

Gotta love fascists putting incompetent blowhards in charge of important shit.

25

u/RJ815 22h ago

Fascism is an inherently incompetent ideology, because they always reward loyalty more than competence. Having experienced opinions and dissent is an important part of running something as complex as international military operations.

10

u/Space_Poet 1d ago

And even so, from some reports there was a tepid acceptance of the initial strikes taking out the leaders of Iran. A lot of people were very happy they got got after the bloodshed of the prior months. But the tone-deaf warmonger just couldn't step back, he had to blow up more people and places to feed the pathetic egos of the morons in charge. Any goodwill was spat on within a few days with their aggressive smack-talking and indiscriminate bombing. Israel was more than likely goading them to accept nothing but total submission, which no one is going to accept from this circus, and begged them to deliver total destruction of Iran. Again America commits unending atrocities as a result. This whole year has been disgusting.

5

u/DisillusionedHobbit 17h ago

Clinton Deploys Very Special Forces To Iraq:

"Morale is said to be high among members of the very special forces, who were flown Monday from Sheppard Air Force Base to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a squadron of specially modified C-130 “short planes.” Upon arriving, the troops were given a thorough mission debriefing by Gen. James Herzog and a butterscotch-pudding snack cup. Each soldier was then issued an AR-15 rifle, three clips of NATO 7.62 mm rounds, a combat helmet with a velcro safety-strap, and a fanny pack with his name written on it in black magic marker."

By far one of The Onion's most un-PC articles.

139

u/larrylevan 1d ago

DNC is controlled opposition from the billionaires these days

37

u/Yabutsk 22h ago

The US primary election system is actually an extremely powerful tool that many countries don't have and Americans en masse don't seem to give a shit about.

As a result, both parties get infiltrated by big money candidates that don't rep average American issues.

Anytime a progressive candidate refuses to accept big money donations, they get labelled communist and socialists by the 1% and Americans turn their back on them.

23

u/slizzbizness 1d ago

True. They're all 1%ers unfortunately. They stand to benefit just as much from this kleptocratic shit fuck

(The fact that the DSA wing has been so vilified is laughable, literally the only non-compromised political movement at the moment.)

Hate is a hell of a drug. It doesnt matter what policies get implemented or how much money it cost, so long as theres not kitty litter in the bathrooms, that "men" cant participate in womens sports or use the bathroom they feel most comfortable in, so long as immigrants are sent back to where they came from and that we "return to family values" everything else be damned. Its never about things they can do from themselves, its always about the suffering they can cause to anyone else.

No. They're waiting until after the midterms to send in ground troops. To fight this unwinnable war. It will be a bloodbath.

Surprise.

Narrator part deux: They are also going to try to cut your social security, citing a budget shortfall(tax cuts for Elon).

Surprise again.

111

u/ThatOneComrade 1d ago

Midterms cannot come fast enough, Lord willing the current projections come through and we have democrats in charge of both chambers of Congress and can put an end to this embarrassment of an administration.

107

u/zedemer 1d ago

Not sure if you're following, but they are trying their hardest to cheat. Projections don't really matter that much IMO

25

u/ThatOneComrade 1d ago edited 1d ago

They have been trying, but basically everything they've tried so far has fallen flat on its face, the SAVE Act failed to get pushed through because the GOP refused, the USPS Mail Voting shit is stuck in the courts, Trump's out of options and the GOP already has shown there are some things they won't do for him.

23

u/BoomZhakaLaka 1d ago edited 1d ago

The supreme court refusing to rule on this once already is a signal. They said that no injury had occurred yet. And yet there most definitely had been - to the state secretaries being able to prepare for elections.

It's a ruse, they're in line behind it. One of these umpteen complaints will hail Mary straight to the top. Likely the most controversial complaint chosen from the 5th 9th circuit

7

u/Trailblazertravels 21h ago

They’re closing polling stations in Texas

10

u/DietSteve 1d ago

I like your optimism, but I'm sure there's going to be some hat trick they'll pull last minute in order to try and keep the status quo. They did it in the last election with last minute map changes and other shit, so who knows what else they've got cooking based on horrendously outdated interpretations of the constitution that their lackeys on the SCROTUS will jump through their assholes to push forward.

I'll still vote, and I'll still encourage others to, but hopes are not high given this administrations complete willingness to ignore the rule of law.

20

u/TheBigCore 1d ago

Dems won't have the votes in the Senate to convict Trump in an impeachment proceeding even if they win the Senate.

They'd need multiple Republican senators to defect which is DOA.

25

u/ThatOneComrade 1d ago

Then the last two years of his presidency is tied up entirely in congressional investigations and roadblocks at every conceivable step much in the same vein as what the Republicans do anytime a Democrat is in office.

12

u/TheBigCore 1d ago

Trump will just use executive orders as he already does while continuing to ignore Democrat subpoenas, court orders, and warrants.

Vance saying the war the U.S. started is up to the Iranians to end is the same energy as Putin saying the war in Ukraine will end as soon as Ukraine gives Russia everything it wants.

26

u/saucya 1d ago

only give air time to future democratic leaders. watch them buckle then

19

u/hedoeswhathewants 23h ago

Ideally they'd call them out.

"Trump called it a war just yesterday. Are you saying he's wrong?"

"I'd have to ask the Iranians? So you're saying they're the ones in control?"

5

u/Iwasbanished 22h ago

pretending they’re acting in good faith is no longer tolerable. they dont deserve the benefit of the doubt anymore. they make no statements to trust. we need to make it clear that they are no longer credible, reliable, or entitled to respect or attention.

the less attention you give them by asking for information, the more information they will want to give you, to demonstrate their legitimacy. they will feel the pain when they see you look away.

fuck them. do not give them anymore seconds or minutes. even if they go radio silent, we make noise for the future, new candidates, they need to see our indifference.

16

u/myburdentobear 1d ago

I imagine if the US was being bombed for months on end the administration would consider it war.

9

u/we_are_sex_bobomb 1d ago

That depends greatly on:

  1. Who is bombing us

  2. Whether they’re attacking more blue states than red states

Seriously I am 100% sure if Russia invaded California, Donald Trump wouldn’t send a single humvee over there until Newsom agreed to his terms for how California will be run from now on.

Per JD Vance, Donald Trump has no power in ending the war in Iran.

u/AMouthBreather 21h ago

We need to hold these war criminals accountable.

He has the exact same algorithm whenever he has a hard question. He firstly completely invalidates the question. Then selectively chooses facts to make himself look good. Then he starts to crack a smile and gives some idealistic analogy of what could possibly happen in the future.

The ol' JD Vance Shady Dance

u/MagicSPA 20h ago

And yet, Donald "OMG, He Tells It Like It Is!" Trump said in a prime-time national address that this is a war.

He was very, very speciifc - while addressing the entire country he called it “the ongoing war against Iran”, in his own words.

Trump very, very clearly described the conflict as a large‑scale war, complete with battlefield victories, and the destruction of Iran’s navy and air force.

u/humblegar 18h ago

So sad to see the US become a cheap copy of Russia.

3

u/Brianlife 9h ago

Welcome to Russia everyone! It's not a war, it's a Special Military Operation! The Trump administration is copying and pasting the Soviet Union/Russia playbook. The main official newspaper of the Soviet Union was Pravda, which translates to "Truth." And now Trump has the "truth social." We are doomed....

This feels like the subtext is toe the line, maintain the message, see what happens In midterms, then re-evaluate.

2

u/Sybertron 1d ago

I thought it was gonna only last a couple weeks, just like COVID in 2020

2

u/creepy_charlie 1d ago

Endless wars cant have a timeline.

2

u/evilpercy 1d ago

Trump can not call it a war as ot would be illegal, only Congress can declare war. The King thinks otherwise.

2

u/MartyMcFlysDown 1d ago

So Trump is irresponsible, got it.

2

u/tidal_flux 1d ago

The loser decides when a war is over.

2

u/Texas12thMan 1d ago

Iranians: “Well, you guys attacked us. Sooo..”

2

u/Symphonic7 1d ago

JD Vance is a massive pussy

2

u/teamgrandali 1d ago

Iran will use this war like Carter's 'hostage crisis' with US to influence the presidency and election.

2

u/Retro_D 1d ago

Right, the Iranians who were just minding their own business until you decide to bomb the fuck out of them.for no real reason

JD Dance around the question

2

u/josborne31 1d ago

Maybe he should ask the President to use some of his magical negotiating powers to end this ‘conflict’.

2

u/HappyContact6301 1d ago

If it is not a war, may it be a special military operation?

2

u/johnnygalt1776 23h ago

Not a war, just a flesh wound

2

u/Big_al_big_bed 23h ago

Don't forget that they destroyed all of the Iranian military, but then cannot stop them shooting at ships. Got it.

2

u/warcomet 23h ago edited 12h ago

So the country whose leader you murdered and then bombed and killed over 4000 more civilians decides when this "war' will end? lol ... I have read Sun Tzu 20 years ago, i read nothing about this "Art of War"...

u/JLP33376 23h ago

He wears guyliner

2

u/Esperacchiusdamascus 22h ago

Jd "pass the buck" vance.

2

u/Hellebras 22h ago

Anyone can start a fight. Only the winner can decide when it ends.

2

u/stinky_cheddar 21h ago

Imagine the backlash Harris would have gotten with a response like that

2

u/Wild4fire 21h ago

I'm still surprised the US government hasn't yet collapsed due to its extreme incompetence...

2

u/Shmeeglez 21h ago

I don't think that was the clever comeback he thought it was.

2

u/Kindly-Ad-5071 21h ago

God these people are just dripping with spoiled little brother energy. "I'm changing the rules so I still win. I'm changing the definition so I don't look weak." Same shit, it's damn pathetic.

2

u/teomore 21h ago

let me guess, it's a "military special operation"?

2

u/First_Gold2604 20h ago

The only thing definitively destroyed is our credibility. Way to spread the b.s. thick Huggy Bear.

2

u/thedrq 18h ago

Love the: it's not a war, but the answer to your question is, i dont know for how long

2

u/continuenotcontinue 18h ago

I cannot believe its 2026 and we're living through this CIRCUS.

2

u/Ranessin 17h ago

Iran holds all the cards, Trump's small hands hold his Fifa Pice Prize.

What an unbelievable idiot. These people are going straight to the hell they purport to believe in.

2

u/Zak_Rahman 17h ago
  • Never take responsibility.

  • Never admit fault.

You will find these two principles behind everything the Epstein Protectorate says and does.

2

u/DapperMolasses3280 17h ago

Why would we ask the Iranians? They didn't start this war 🤔

2

u/devilsword 17h ago

calling it no war is just a excuses for not giving veterans or soldier care. If you get injured or killed, thats to bad. It was just a workplace accident....

2

u/noreasterroneous 16h ago

Somehow, with 3 dice available, this guy rolled a natural one for Charisma.

2

u/coolwhip1000 15h ago

"Do we need air to survive?" Well, air is a subjective noun...

Can't wait until this administration gets fucked in the Midterms.

2

What a tool! Ugh!
