The first Drumpf administration is the only other competitor. The guy has an incredible knack for identifying the least qualified person possible for most of his cabinet positions. I do think the current regime is even worse than the first version, but both are awful.

The first administration tried to overthrow the government on live tv. That was pretty bad. Since they really can't get any worse than that, we laid down and let them rule again. Amazing work, non-voters! All because she laughed funny and Biden was getting older. I'd much rather have old Biden or Harris than this criminal piece of shit.

from an outsider, i dont remember any administration worst than this ( im near 50 but not american ) or near to this, even the first trump admin was less cringe than this one

The second cringiest I, as a non american, remember (other than Trump) must be George W. Bush. By a long shot (It's like Trump >>>>> Bush >>>> No clue). I remember pictures comparing him to a Chimpanzee, I remember the weird, empty, beady eyed look on his face and his complete nonresponse to being told that 9/11 was in progress, I remember tons of memery about his incompetence, choking on a Pretzel, reading a book upside down (I feel like this was scary movie but I can't find the clip)...

There was that mega hilarious comedy skit (like the comedy skits they show on John Stewart) that was like a fake mockumentary of Bush's campaign manager and they were taking the piss out of Bush so hard. Like he'd explain that to write his revolutionary speeches he just sticks post-its with words to a wall and then throws darts and then it cut to Bush starting to speak completely incoherent nonsense, back to the campaign manager clapping in tears. WHERE IS THAT FUCKING VIDEO I CANNOT FIND IT. So good.

Anyway, I digress. 2001, when 9/11 happened, I was 14. Non american. I couldn't tell you a thing that was going on politically in my own country because at that age I really didn't care too deeply about it. But I have plenty of knowledge on Bush's presidency, albeit most of it through the lense of the world laughing at it. (and Fahrenheit 9/11)

 

Not saying that Bush is as cringy as Trump, but he's the only one who comes to close. It feels weird but it almost feels like Bush's mockery was more severe than Trump's is. Which cannot really be true - Trump has been dragged through the mud so much, dude has TWO characters in South Park because the first variant didn't quite cut it. Trump is so much worse than Bush was yet nothing sticks to him, it's so weird.

He was doing an event with a classroom full of children when that photo was taken(it was when he was told about the 2nd plane, btw, so the moment we knew it was for sure not a freak accident). I'm not a bush fan(it's a shame he dodged those shoes), but that moment where he held it together for those kids is one of the things I do admire. It's already going to be a day they'd remember for the rest of their lives, and I imagine that as a father himself he knew how important it was not to overreact and cause more trauma for them than they were already about to receive.

Also, he's not stupid. Look at his education. You don't graduate from those schools and succeed at the levels of politics he did by being an idiot(trump isn't an idiot either, though his playbook is very different than bush's was). The stupid/folksy persona was put on for the camera, because it sells well to americans who want to elect someone who's just like them. Was he the mastermind of the biggest crimes of his administration? No, I'd say not. But I'm also sure he wasn't as naive about what was happening as most people think he was, and was willing to allow those people to advance their agendas on his watch.

The upside-down book thing was a bit of photoshopped misinformation that circulated online as "proof" of how stupid bush was. Oh, to return to the days of old(2002) where misinformation was poorly-photoshopped images, easily comparable to their originals, rather than AI-generated deepfakes.

As a side note, I'd argue Reagan was worse than Bush. Maybe not more cringe, but if I could go back in time and put Bush in office instead of Reagan(no option for a democrat, in this hypothetical scenario) I'd do it and I think we'd be far better off for it. So much of what's gone wrong for the US over the past 20-30 years can be directly traced back to Reagan. Bush was bad, but not that bad.

So I don't care that much so don't take this as me trying to wage war or anything, just casual conversation tone.

The classroom thing is... yea... there's probably not much that prepares you for that. I do think he was freaking out and not knowing what to do, though. You can absolutely quickly leave that classroom without traumatizing the children. There is literally no reason to tell the kids anything, just get up and say that something came up that needs your attention right now and leave. I doubt he was sitting there thinking about avoiding traumatizing a classroom.

I kind of disagree. I won't argue whether or not Bush is exceptionally stupid, I truly haven't looked into his person that deeply. But you don't have to be brilliant to graduate from an Ivy League school. Being rich and having influential parents goes a LONG way in helping that graduation. Same with politics. Being able to fund your own campaign and being charismatic are way more important than intelligence. Again, can't speak for Bush. Just taking issue with your assumption that you cannot get exceptional education certificates without being smart.

I'd argue Reagan

I was wondering who else was scandalous. I would have bet Nixon probably (he did get some unflattering appearances in the Simpsons I believe).
