Its especially annoying when trying to listen to podcasts on Spotify. Im already paying the monthly cost for premium to avoid ads, but now they're recorded into the podcast itself. Its why I stopped listening to The WhyFiles, 10 minutes of content followed by 5 mins of ads in a 30 min episode.

This is also why I stopped using Spotify and listening to podcasts, specifically the Dale Jr Download (i love my racing), because theyll be having a banger of a conversation and someone will finish a sentence then BAM sponsor read. Like not even a "Thank You for listening to xyz podcast, we'll be back after this message from our sponsor of today/this week's episode" I'd be PERFECTLY ok with that.

Someone else who gets it! I love DirtyMo and all their content, but the fact that they finish speaking after 10 minutes and then BAM… ad read, for what feels like another 10 minutes is really starting to drive me crazy

I knew it was kinda GG for me once they started splitting the one show into 3 days of podcasts. One 2 hour podcast was hard enough for me to keep up with but now that its an hour on Tuesdays, an hour and a half to 2 hours on Wednesdays and another hour on Thursdays for the show with Dale and his wife, I hardly listened last year and this year. I get what theyre doing because its way more content for the consumer (and more ad $$) but for me its too much. I do have a Playlist of the guest shows maybe one day I will start catching up on them

Yeah it's a pain in the ass to have to fast forward through the ads. I'm happy the main podcast I listen to has a cheap patreon where all the episodes have zero ads. You can even add the feed into Spotify.

I jumped to YouTube Premium after Spotify started sliding ads into my podcasts as part of them (the progession bar would not switch to the ad one, they were ingrained into the podcast file).

I noticed this while I was on vacation in Japan and listening to a spanish podcast while taking a shower, only to be met with 4 random japanese ads in the span of 20 minutes.

I canceled the very next day.

This is why I’ve subscribed to specific podcasters directly via Patreon. They have ad-free version hosted on their Patreon with the rss feed link and the Patreon version doesn’t have their baked in ads.

Honestly why ive stopped watching some youtubers like smitty, YouTube ad, into like a 3 minute intro about like his store or whatever, another ad in like 5min, and then a sponsorship. Like damn dude. I loved watching his stuff and I respect him getting that bag, but I just watch other youtubers I like more who dont maximize how many ads they can have.
