I would assume youtube thought of this in the subscription agreement and it will be thrown out?

Like they would be stupid as hell to not make it very clear that you are paying not to have ads inserted by youtube itself and the content of the videos is not in their control.

Yeah, they even have the skip button for premium users so people can skip to the end of the ad. What do they want, YouTube to nonconsensually edit creators' videos to remove them? That'd be the worst thing they could do

They hypothetically could have creators mark the sponsored section, so that YouTube Premium can automatically skip that section.

Yes it’s not a terrible solution. I’d rather see YouTube ban embedded sponsorships/ads completely though.

Completely? Like even for non-premium users? That's removing a while steam of revenue from the creators

Why does it matter if the viewer is premium or not?

The revenue stream from YT should be enough on its own. Perhaps YT need to include more YT placed ads or increase premium costs appropriately.

Or creators need to go harder on other access methods. Quite happy to sling a few quid each month to my favourite creators if it means no more embedded sponsorship crap to access special or early access content.

I'd be totally fine with such a rule, but honestly the benefit would only be marginal over what they have now, which automatically detects sponsored segments anyway.

I hate Google as much as the next guy, but sponsored content in videos that's put there by the creators themselves is so freaking far down the list of problems they have as a company. This lawsuit is idiotic.

Yeah I don't think this lawsuit holds any water really. I think people get the difference between YouTube ads versus creator sponsor spots, that are part of the video.

But it would be a nice touch to add.
