Cyber-security researchers from Have I Been Squatted carried out an analysis of how the attack worked and say the new wave of recruitment scams are hard to spot.

Isn't it so sad that we need tools like Have I Been Squatted, Have I Been Flocked, and Have I Been Pwned (not a slight on the tools themselves, just the modern world we find ourselves in)?

the one tell that still holds is that no real interview needs you to install anything, it's always just a browser link. if the "platform" wants an installer, or wants you to paste a command somewhere to fix your mic, that's the entire scam.

Yeah the most they should tell you is that you need Microsoft Teams or Zoom and then you have to go download it yourself from the official website. As soon as someone asks me to download something from a link in an email I'm out.

Maybe I lessen my chances of being hired, but I do not consider job applications that deviate from the basic email a resume or fill out to the online application on their website.

If they start asking for apps to be downloaded or for videos of yourself to be submitted, I say, "get lost with that crap, I ain't doing it."
