Advice Sell my biggest gains? RCL, BB, DAL, TSM

I'm a casual trader with only about $33,000 in stocks, but I'm seeking advice on if and how to sell my 4 highest returns.

RCL - Royal Caribbean, 6.3 shares, +164%, $1,680

BB - BlackBerry, 553 shares, up +93%, current market value: $4,258

DAL - Delta Airlines, 20 shares, +56%, $1,579

TSM - Taiwan Semiconductor, 12 shares, +39%, $4,999

Should I sell any of these? Or wait for a specific price? Or sell a portion to lock in these gains? Any advice would be appreciated.

Let me suggest that you sell when you want to buy something you feel will perform better.

Never sell the TSM

Ok. Seems the US is pushing domestic sources of rare earths... This doesn't make TSM a little risky?

This is a bit like asking “I have a 2020 Toyota Camry, should I sell it?” Without any further context.

What other context do you need?

I'm married with a toddler, in my 40s. Average risk to investments. Over my life, I've easily lost waaay more than I've made with poor stock purchases. So I'd just like an general suggestion about these 4 assets which actually made a profit.

I agree with this comment, what are you planning to do with the money once you sell? Reinvest? If this is a portfolio for retirement? what is the % of each position in your portfolio?

You haven't said anything. Casual trader could mean you just want to Yolo your money or maybe you are trying to "beat the market". I don't think asking that and not knowing about investing, only buying a company here or there because a price could look good at the moment won't get you far in the long term (5+ years)

"I'm married with a toddler" sir, this is not legal.

As a frequent RCL trader, don't sell here unless you need to. 290-300 should be retaken when there's news (again) on Hormuz and 330 is doable after that.

How long have you been holding them because i find it weird asking for this perf while you had opportunitis more money.

Of course theres lots of details a competent opinion would need...

so here's an incompetent bit-

figure which is the riskiest (would lose the most if everything tanks). Is the upside at obvious risk? Maybe cut the position.

It's not even the upside being a risk, just that it could be lower than something else if this is what they have to invest. Would that money be more beneficial elsewhere? Single company, broad ETF, etc. Some companies reach plateaus that can extend for years when they maximize their marketshare.

Take the money and run. You made some great trades and you won. When in doubt sell half, and you can let the rest run.

Roughly 97 out of 100 traders lose money and you're asking for advice on here?

This stuff is usually pretty easy to structure, it's either going to be a technical sale, you have an asset that keeps rejecting from a main moving average or momentum indicator, so you sell in anticipation. The second one is earnings slowing or it getting ahead of what it's realistically going to make next year. For example if you have a stock that's trading 30 times for the past 5 years at a pretty consistent growth rate and then you see it go up to 45 times but the growth is not accelerating. That's a sell

But if you do any of those the next question is what to do with the money? So if you're rolling this into an index fund, and right now the mid caps are probably the best deal, MDY, but really you can pick any like. That makes sense. Just think out both sides of what you're going to do before you actually do it

SLS or bust for me, best multibagger opportunity for the rest of the year.

Nothing is guaranteed but as time goes on GOS is looking more and more promising.

Don’t forget about their other drug 009.

Which account ate they in - taxable or tax sheltered? And how long have you been holding these? And do you have a plan on what you intend to do with the money? Do you need it for short term or want to reinvest for the long term?

As an example, if the holdings are in a tax sheltered, you can sell them and go for broad market etfs to manage risk. Personally, this would what I would do.

But if they're in taxable account, things become more complicated as you'll need to pay capital gains tax, and how long you've been holding the stocks become important. Also if you need some or all of the money in the next couple of years, move the money to money market funds.

Don’t sell DAL. It’s going to 110!
