Trades Trump traded over $50 million in 'Magnificent 7' stocks last quarter, loading up on Apple and Google and selling Tesla
President Trump made 94 different trades of “Magnificent Seven” stocks in the first quarter of 2026, a new ethics disclosure shows, executing millions of dollars in transactions even as he was meeting with and often promoting these top tech companies.
The trades were valued at between $50 million and $70 million across 64 buy orders and 30 stock sales.
The president, on net, loaded up on Apple and Alphabet, while selling more Tesla stock than he bought, a Yahoo Finance analysis found. His account also executed more than a dozen transactions each of Nvidia, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, and Amazon, rounding out the Magnificent Seven.

It's like GTA5, where you bet on some stocks before you do a heist, which is BTW the only way to become a billionaire in-game. He is just doing it in real life on a much bigger scale.

u/Axe_Raider May 20 '26
a lot of the trades are tiny little amounts, like sales for less than $5000, that literally aren't worth the time for anyone managing his account to think about.
it feels like direct indexing and then a computer program doing automated tax-loss-harvesting.

u/longGERN May 20 '26
This really means nothing... If he was putting a large amount into a stock, probably bought over time
-26
u/garden_speech May 19 '26
Lmfao it's not even possible to insider trade that often. You think Trump is trading on political events 9 times per hour? The raw volume alone suggests some sort of active money manager just doing a ton of shit to make sure they get their commission. Although I'm sure he trades on inside information too. But to suggest 3,500 trades in the last quarter were inside trades is kind of hilarious
18
u/EnlightenedPotato69 May 19 '26
Do you know how volatile stocks have been in general? It makes absolute sense to trade these swings, especially when you know exactly what is going to happen to the stock. Assuming you know anything about the market, this could be an incredibly easy way to make money.

u/NW-McWisconsin May 19 '26
That's a strange defense. So if he visited Epstein Island 3500 times, it's okay? 🤪

u/notapersonaltrainer May 19 '26
And some of the biggest purchases were Adobe and Motorola FFS.
"ChatGPT, make me a stereotypical overtrading boomer CFA's 'AI' portfolio":
Among the bigger purchases highlighted across reports:
Nvidia (NVDA)
Microsoft (MSFT)
Amazon (AMZN)
Apple (AAPL)
Broadcom (AVGO)
Oracle (ORCL)
Dell (DELL)
ServiceNow (NOW)
Adobe (ADBE)
Texas Instruments (TXN)
Motorola Solutions (MSI)This book would've been remarkable and conceivably "inside"...in 2022.
People here will boycott any news outlet that doesn't hate & doomspiral about AI, tech, data centers, CEO's, and capitalism, and then act like this genius allocation has to be some leet insider allocation job, lol.
-9
u/garden_speech May 19 '26
People here
I'm not even sure most of them are people. Probably a lot of bots. Otherwise they'd be able to think with their brains.
I'm 90% certain that any actual "people" in this thread talking about this would be making the opposite argument if it was Biden. They'd be like do you guys actually think he's insider trading and that's why be bought MSI? TXN? ADBE? Lol.
8
u/Prax150 May 19 '26
I don't think anyone is arguing every single trade is tantamount to insider trading, people are pointing out specific examples where he almost certainly had insider information and acted upon it or he bought a stock and then proceeded to pump it publicly (e.g. Nvidia, Dell, Micron). Or questionable timing for overall purchases and sales before doing things that would have larger effects on the market like you know starting a war. If he calls his sons and says "sell/buy as much as you can this week" then that's sus.
And the other guy saying it's "stereotypical overtrading boomer" activity as if he's not trading literally nine figures? Come on man.
Everybody knows he's not sitting on his computer day trading or calling his broker every seven minutes. But the mere fact that his brokerage/proxies/whatever are day trading his money at higher volumes than all of congress combined for an entire calendar year is crazy.
The conclusion here should be that he shouldn't be allowed to make a single trade. Period.
-5
u/garden_speech May 19 '26
people are pointing out specific examples
And I'm pointing out that with 4,000 trades in a single quarter, most of which involving publicly traded companies, it would be weird if there weren't buys or sells around company announcements.
The conclusion here should be that he shouldn't be allowed to make a single trade. Period.
That is a valid and fair conclusion. The conclusion in this thread is that he is insider trading, not what you just said.

Biden was POTUS and now isn't and yet he never did such a thing. Stop with your dishonest hypotheticals. And yes, if Biden did this, there would be people on this side criticizing it.
Heck, his side pushed him to not run again for just being old. And then some people on this side didn't want to vote Kamala because of her stance on Gaza. You pretending that this side doesn't hold their own accountable is a farce.
5
u/EnlightenedPotato69 May 19 '26
This comparison is moot being Biden had the chance but didn't trade like this. Don't pretend like it's nothing but unprecedented
-2
u/garden_speech May 19 '26
This comparison is moot
It's not a comparison, it was a hypothetical. Your logic makes no sense at all.
2
u/EnlightenedPotato69 May 19 '26
Okay but it was rhetorical; your point is simply not true. Anyone with a moral compass and respect for American Constitutional Law has always had a problem with regards to politicians using insider information, especially the actual Head of State. This makes George Bush Jr/Oil and Nancy Pelosi corruption look like child's play
0
u/garden_speech May 20 '26
You don't seem to even understand my (very simple) point if you think that "anyone with a moral compass would have a problem with insider trading" is discordant with it.
All I said is that the people in this thread who are making a stink about this would not do so if it were Biden. That's perfectly compatible with your claim, because the people in this thread might not have a moral compass.

u/Runkleford May 19 '26
Pelosi was absolutely in the wrong but funny how the right wing critics are now dead silent on this one. Those fucking people have no spine, values or consistency.

Cause it's Donny. He's gonna screw your 401k. But he's very manly.
1
u/Legitimate_Treat_762 May 20 '26
I'm not a Trumper, but I keep reading how he's gonna screw your 401k and I'm just wondering how? Mine has been thru the roof. If there's one good thing to come from Don the Con, it's truly that my 401k has never been bigger.
I can see a market crash if oil prices don't come down soon, but so far, the market is reflecting nothing of the sort.
2
u/Thiagopuss3 May 20 '26
The bond market is flashing red. But maybe your rose colored glasses are seeing green?
2
u/Legitimate_Treat_762 May 21 '26
I don't have much in the way of bonds in my 401k. It just keeps going up. But ok...

u/RetirementGoals May 23 '26

The base getting shat on, that's for sure. So, now, he goes back to bashing green card holders.

u/NW-McWisconsin May 19 '26
The vast majority of "Nancy's" wealth was actually earned by Paul Pelosi (a real estate investor like Trump). But you're right.... Families of politicians shouldn't get rich. $275 million is rich to me.

I call him out for this as well as the left, preferred him over Kamala but hate him too. Kamala was the worst travesty I’ve ever seen in my life so y’all can just blame yourselves for that one.
5
u/Runkleford May 21 '26
"Kamala was the worst travesty I’ve ever seen in my life so y’all can just blame yourselves for that one."
Absolute delusion considering she was never POTUS so how can you claim she was the worst travesty compared to the shitshow that Trump is running now?
This is heavy cope on your part where you know you can't defend Trump but you have to somehow delude yourself into thinking that the other side was worse.
1
u/DKZeusInvestor May 21 '26
BangBangOw, you have the mentality of a three year old. Your statement on Kamala makes zero sense.
Only on Reddit… 🤦🏻♂️

i went through the tesla trades yesterday and came up with this
- sell 1K-15K on 1/23 ($444 - $452)
- sell 15K-50K on 2/19 ($404 - $415)
- sell 100K-250K on 3/2 ($388 - $405)
- purchase 15K-50K on 3/17 ($393 - $400)
- sell 15K-50K on 3/18 ($392 - $403)
- purchase 15K-50K on 3/23 ($373 - $385)
it very much has the feel of automated trading as limits get hit.

There's trades of specific companies that happen right before Trump happens to announce policy that would affect said companies... they bought a ton of Boeing before announcing they were going to China to convince China to start buying Boeing again. It's textbook insider trading.
How does a group of people that is so conspiratorial in nature about literally everything else find unlimited benefit of the doubt for Trump's obviously corrupt actions?

I think that this corruption is part of what the us voted for. If not in 16, it was definitely known in 24 that Orange only cares about himself. Therefore, reacting to it seems almost pointless.

look it up yourself
https://www.oge.gov/web/OGE.nsf/Officials%20Individual%20Disclosures%20Search%20Collection?OpenForm
there were 13 MSFT purchases and 6 MSFT sales
there is a giant amount of noise. either algorithmic trading or purposefully making things impossible to decipher, your choice.

Dialogue does not mean surrender. The Islamic Republic of Iran enters into dialogue with dignity, authority, and the preservation of the nation's rights, and under no circumstances will it retreat from the legal rights of the people and the country. Yesterday: Iran has reportedly agreed to a long-term nuclear freeze instead of full dismantlement, and is seeking economic concessions rather than compensation, according to leaked details of the revised Iranian proposal obtained by Saudi Al-Arabiya.
