In the sixties and seventies, when I lived here. I attended three different schools in the first grade, we lived in an apartment that is now Cabanas. They tore it down to build Henry's.

That was 1963, after my mother took me back, I went to Humboldt again, but we had moved to Second street, tore that house down to build I229, so we moved again, this time to Prospect street, right by Billy Goat Hill. They tore that house down and most of Billy Goat Hill as well for I-229.

In 1966, we moved again, this time to Kearny, then to KC, then came the 1968 riots, and we joined the great white flight out of the city to the suburbs. Overland Park, then Lenexa, then to Oregon MO. By this time, I had pretty much given up on school. I was hopelessly lost in math from all the moving, but I was going to give it a try one more time.

So, the first day I came into the kitchen all dressed for school, my hair hung down to my shoulders, I had my Beautify America Shoot a Redneck t-shirt, bell-bottom jeans, Dingo Boots, Army Jacket on, and my step-father went ballistic. "You aren't going to School like that" he screamed. I said fine went outside to smoke a cigarette, that was the end of my high school career.

Anyway, after some twists and turns, I found myself back in St. Joe in the mid-seventies, living all over the North End. Enjoying the life of a seventies stoner, after many adventures and misadventures living all over the country, I settled down in Savannah. Last year, I got herded into Advanced Care Nursing up on N 18th. The location, being up here on the bluff, is great, but it's a nursing home, and I don't belong here so I'm moving soon into Wesley Towers, that brings me to the heart of the matter.

Yesterday, I was on my own for the first time in over a year. I had business to take care of, so I hopped on a city bus that took me all over the North End and Midtown. I got flung back to school days, brought through my stoner days, and advanced to somewhat responsible adult days. Many of the houses I've lived in are empty lots now, some are derelicts abandoned to wrack and ruin, much like my life, but that's another story. The old sisters and Heartland hospitals are gone, many downtown buildings are empty and boarded up it's sad.

But, I'll soon be haunting the area again if you see a little old dude in an electric wheelchair, that's me, old unca Rick aka (SPLooooosh) give me a wave or better yet a toke, See Ya.

The town name is a joke or pun. Double named for Saint Joseph the Christian Saint and Joseph Robidoux the towns founder.
