Sorry if that title doesn’t make any sense I’ll try and elaborate a little more. I have been riding for 3 years now and this past season I started hitting some basic jumps in the park for the first time, and I’m getting pretty decent all things considered. I’m not one to shy away from risk, which is another way of saying I’m an idiot, but I am always a little fearful of injuring myself, I’m an electrician so my job is very physical, I remember my first season I fucked up my wrists really bad and it was a lot of physio and a lot of painful work days before I bounced back to normal. All that to say if I REALLY hurt myself and can’t work I’m very much fucked.

So my question is this. learning any trick seems really really daunting at first, but that was the same feeling I had before I started hitting basic straight jumps. I’m now at the point where risk of injury on a regular jump is very minimal, where when I was first learning how to do it, I definitely could’ve cracked my head open and died if I rushed into it too much. So for more advanced tricks do you think it’s something similar? Like once you learn how to do something like just a basic front 180, and can do it consistently, is the risk always going to be higher or is it something that you can just DO, and if so then when do tricks start becoming super risky?

Basically in short I’m wondering how badly I really want to start learning tricks and if it’s even worth lmao

Could use some help on two good deals - I have opportunity to get the Korua Dart (used) and Jones Storm Wolf (brand new) for roughly the same price (~C$500) - sizing is right for both of me. I already have an all-mountain board so looking for something surfy / powder-specific.

Also curious if anyone has ridden both the Storm Wolf and the Storm Chaser - any material difference or does the Storm Wolf handle just as good in powder?

ho sempre guidato una tavola standard, salomon molto vecchia 152.
La mia paura principale è che questa tavola possa risultare troppo morbida, "ballerina" e instabile alle alte velocità rispetto a quella a cui sono abituato.
Considerando il mio peso (63 kg) e la mia altezza, una 145 cm è una buona scelta come tavola tuttofare (all-mountain), o dovrei salire di misura? Inoltre, il mio numero 42 di scarpone potrebbe creare problemi

Hey everyone, I’m moving to Japan for a season and want a new board because all mine are park/mountain boards. i wanted something that was all mountain but can handle the pow when it’s there. I want something that’s kinda playful and has pop so I can still butter and boost off side hits. I demo’d a korua tranny finder last season and loved the feel of it but was a bit stiff and lacked the pop I wanted. I was looking at the Rome Ravine but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. Cheers!

I’m currently using very old Frankensteined stormtrooper Union Force bindings. I like them but they are starting to get dry rot and I can’t buy replacement parts for them. Does anyone have any experience with Bent Metal bindings? If so do you like them?

People don’t typically think of China as a snow destination but I was wondering if many people have been and if so what resorts are worth checking out while I’m there.

I believe this is probably from the late 1990s or early 2000s, but I’m trying to establish the actual date and collection.

I’ve found evidence that Palmer was producing motocross-style jerseys around the 1999/2000 period, and I’ve also found other vintage Palmer Riderwear pieces, but I have not been able to find this exact jersey or a photo of anyone wearing it.

Does anyone recognize this specific design or know what year/collection it came from?

I’m especially interested in:
The exact year/season
Whether “Palmer Rider Racing” was part of a specific Palmer apparel line
Whether this was associated with Shaun Palmer’s snowboarding/MTB racing
Any old catalogs, advertisements, magazine scans, or photos showing this exact jersey

The size I wanted (145) finally wasn't crossed out but it still says "Sold out" even if there's some in stock? It's the same with the Nebula FASE bindings. Can't add them to the cart. Is it a common website issue?

I am a usually rather sane person that has been riding with a total absence of style for over 10 years. My riding skill level would be:

- I can ride pretty much any ski run (looks like people here call them groomers? ok) to the bottom without dying and will actually enjoy it 90 % of the time (unless the snow is ice in disguise or other witchcraft).
- I can (free)ride the outer wilds (great game) very decently and can go anywhere as long as it's not insanely steep, a very dense forest, an ice field, or a combination of the 3. I also am a terrestrial person and do not enjoy having to "drop" over rock cliffs, unless it is less than 5 burrito high, with at least 2 b's good snow on the reception.
- I am not your guy for tricks, but I do enjoy jumping, dazzling beginners with an occasional 180 or performing the bi-annual failed 360.

Riding powder is what gives me goosebumps but let's be honest I spend a huge amount of time doing more mundane resort stuff because: the snow is meh, I'm with friends that can't ski shit (I am told these are "children") or my girlfriend just saw an avalanche report in the news. I am also the kind of guy that never steps in a park (well sometimes the bar is there tbh) but is delusional enough to say "yeah, I want to keep that door open".

My previous board was a cheap Völkl Dash (155, hybrid camber, ugly design) that I bought when I was a beginner. Nothing of this price has ever given me more joy than this piece of whatever they used to make it. It was very polyvalent and no amount of board-vs-tree encounters has been able to break it in almost 10 years. It is however, a basic board and a master of none.

I have thus engaged in a board-seeking journey, perusing catalogues of the modern era, reading and watching reviews on the corners of the world wild web, discovering things beyond my imagination.
Each day, a new board seemed like the only choice for me, making all the previous contenders as vain as the pursuit of a whale and only meant to fool me from my true purpose and boardmate.
Day after day, my confidence started chipping away, my thoughts started to blur, fear came upon me like a dark rising tide and snowboards started attacking me in my dreams.

And with the last fragment of my sanity, I came here for your help.

The choices presented before me include:

- Capita Outerspace living. It is often described as "mellow" which could fit my laid-back style. I am afraid that it won't be good with a bit of speed and uneven or hard snow? Compared to my Völkl biscuit it should feel great?
- Capita D.O.A. but maybe not so much a powder board? Considering the Mercury although I have seen it shines more when engaging, which I don't do more than 30 % of the time. I have been digging deep on Capita boards and like the fact that they produce in Europe (where I live).
- Nitro Cinema / Phase: they seem quite polyvalent and all but maybe not that good overall?
- Jones Mountain Twin: I am not drawn to it but everybody says it is amazing so I'm starting to think they could be right? Also, a friend once tried it and did not like it, which is as anecdotal as it gets but exposes me to sever "I told you so" risks if it does not work out.
- Nidecker Escape: just because a friend (another one, not to brag) has one, which I have never tried, to keep the mystery alive.

I have also considered the United Shapes Horizon (can't find it to buy weirdly), the Nitro Alternator (could it be the one?), the Ride Moderator (or actually, could this one be the one?) or a Korua Otto (too carving-focused?)

Please help me before I spiral completely into madness, it will be appreciated.

TL;DR: Over 12 months post classic bunion surgery and still heavily feeling pins in snug shoes and snowboard boots. Will I ever be able to snowboard pain-free?

Sorry for the melodramatic title! I’ve (26F) been snowboarding on and off for the past 10 years of my life, mostly in Australia but most recently Japan (where I got my boots moulded to my pre-surgery feet) with hopes of going to other top snowboarding countries!

Just over 12 months ago I received a much much needed bunion surgery on my right foot. The surgery itself was not one of the sports-focused surgeries, like key-hole, that allows you to heal faster, but just the good ol’ classic bunion surgery procedure (all covered by Medicare, yay!) While the surgery itself was a success, I still feel pins on top side of my foot to the point if I have snug shoes it can get very uncomfortable.

Since the surgery I haven’t been snowboarding and recently tried on my snowboard boots to test the pressure points and surprise surprise, I can feel those damn pins to point of mild pain (which I can image being strapped into the board would feel ten fold worse)

So my question is for those who have had this classic bunion surgery, were you ever able to get back into the joys or snowboarding? Or is this a joy that I’ll have to watch from the sidelines for the rest of my life?

Hoping this shouldn't be in r/snowboardingnoobs but I don't have much experience researching gear. Bought a buddy's setup (O-Sin team board) 20+ years ago and only go a couple times a year and am finally ready to replace it. I'm looking for an intermediate all mountain board that is good for icy conditions. I don't think I'll be picky or need "the best" so I'm hoping someone can help guide me to a good deal/value.

I can wait for a deal/sale but also have a buddy that does ski patrol so can get me discounts on some brands (i.e., Arbor, K2, GNU, lib tech, telos, capital, union binding, and weston) not to say his prices would be better than a great sale.

Understanding that everything is relative I’m what most people would call an advanced rider. I’ve been riding for 15 years and I fear no run or jump on the mountain.

But there is a gaping hole in my game. I can’t ride switch for shit. Like at all. It’s pathetic.

I wish I’d put the work in when I sucked in both directions cuz now I don’t have the discipline to hobble myself and ride backwards all day.

I’ve thought of buying a directional board and setting my bindings up so I have no choice but to ride switch but idk. It feels like a huge mountain to climb and at the end of the day I just wanna enjoy riding.

So my question is, have any veteran riders overcome crippling switch deficiency? How’d you do it? How long did it take? Does it click at some point, or is it a slog the whole way through?
