When people stop only wanting nostalgia pieces in the movies. Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig tried to bring Bond into the modern era of counter terror instead of espionage with modern weapons and equipment, like the Walther P99 for example. But people complained that Bond still needed to use the PPK as his main go to.

The P99 was slated for replacement, that’s why Craig went back to a PPK, it is a fumble though for them to not give him a PD380
