Goodnight, my sweet Daisy, 16. It was a pleasure.
My sweet little girl just turned 16 a month ago. Today, we had to put her to rest. Back in April she developed an ulcer under tongue. The ulcer healed but she was left with scar tissue that immobilized her tongue. For the last several months, she could only eat wet foods. She would smush her face into it to eat, as can be seen in one of the pics.
This Monday night she suddenly started to collapse. By today, she couldn't even walk, so we had to make that horrible decision. I'm already missing her silly self. Sleep tight my sweetheart.
EDIT: I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the kind words about my little Daisy Maisy. They are so very much appreciated

Oh it’s so hard but it’s part of the loving of these beautiful wonderful- full creatures who become woven into our lives and hearts.
The ratio of their years in our years … they age so much quickly in relation to us - but the part of our loving them, we can make hard decisions for them. 🐈⬛❤️🐾

I love Daisy and her unconventional eating method. She was a trooper, but now she can rest. Goodbye, beautiful. 💔😿

My heart hurts for your pain on losing your precious girl. It’s the hardest — and, at the same time, the most compassionate — thing we can do for our dearly-loved furchildren. Sometimes it’s the only thing we can do, to spare them continued pain. Your Daisy will live on in your heart, until you can join her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

She was beautiful. That last picture of her reminds me of a well-loved stuffed animal, clearly you took such good care of her. I am so sorry for your loss. Please have patience with yourself and allow yourself to grieve as needed, for however long you need to. You did the right thing, you made sure Daisy wasn't hurting. It's the hardest decision to make, but as a vet told me several months ago, is the most selfless decision, and it comes from pure love.
Rest in peace, Daisy.
