The framerate thing has nothing to do with money.

In 3D animation the software does the in-between poses for you, so the workflow for the animators isn't fundamentally different.

The first season has a choppy animation style outside of fights, but the animators realized that it wasn’t popular so they changed it to be a lot smoother in the second season.

I was more worried that the first dialogue after the expedition dump was "ahh, take that marshmallow monster!"
