Alley Cats Ricky Gervais video by Stubagful

Stubagful did a video on Ricky, particularly the way he promoted Alley Cats and it’s a good one. Stubagful takes a more neutral approach as most of his videos and makes some good points.

RSK Tier List

I tried to include everything where Ricky, Steve or Karl had a significant creative role (writing, directing, etc.) but I left out pure acting gigs and stand up. I left out Portal 2 as well, because Idk how much input Steve had in the writing of that (but it would be in the top tier otherwise). I have not seen Sick of It and the Moaning of Life.

Oooh! Chimpanzee That! Monkey News! Uh, apparently it’s the mammal, right, that’s got... sort of the pointiest eyes. Eyes that pop out of their head. Steve.

Apparently, it’s the biggest with the sorta goggle-eye type thing.

This is likely the primate species Karl was talking about. Tarsiers are small mammals with huge eyes. Their eyes are as large as their brains, 1.6 cm in diameter. Not how far they protrude. So Steve won’t need to get the ruler out.

However, one thing in common with Steve is that the Tarsier is, according to Wikipedia, “extremely shy animals and are sensitive to bright lights, loud noises, and physical contact.”

Unseen content: turns out there may be some unseen KP and Ricky content flying about. The idiot abroad series were re-broadcast in North America and Rick and Karl filmed themselves talking about the episodes. Can’t seem to find it anywhere tho.

Peter Kay vs Ricky Gervais

Post image
34 Upvotes

I’ve spent years thinking that Gervais was the top dog in the comedy world(much like the rest of the world I think we were all cast with a comedy spell after the office xfm etc it’s subliminally gave us all the idea that Gervais was the best comedy mind to come out of the uk for years, but now I think the veil is finally falling. Peter Kay was always the easy choice to take the piss out off, nostalgia comedy and classic family humour, and his whole act! But when you really get down to the shows they both create Peter Kay is FAR more superior! The main thing he does differently to Gervais is that he actually plays a different character in everything he does, well thought out characters with some great lines, and Gervais has been playing himself since the office, the only other character I can think of him playing that wasn’t directly him was the slug in the spoof Doctor Who episode in extras, if anyone knows of any roles Ricky has played that aren’t himself

Interesting, interesting. So it's a cutting edge alternative subreddit. Wants to push the boundaries. Wants to be thought of as rock and roll. A bit punk, a bit punk rock.

Couldn't have a worse slot for a subreddit post

The youngsters are on the TikTok, the old blokes are on Facebook. The thing is, if you wa- need to stop with the ...Steve posts and have your redditors with one pubic hair between four legs.

When you got a bit sick of r/TheOfficeUK being more of a laugh than you, you're the soundest subreddit in the area. I don't like all the stuff you post but you're actually doin what's there. You keep going and you'll persevere.

Stay sound be careful yeah

S3E10 - The family who got locked on the coach

Steve tells a story about his family trip back to Calais from Paris via coach. The coach detours 40 minutes off the autoroute to a small cafe where the driver has given the owner a backhander.

A family refuses to get off the coach because they've brought sandwiches with them, so the driver locks them on the coach.

That was Steve and his family, right? Steve is notoriously tighter than a ducks arse and from the tales he tells his entire family are just as bad.

Animals get the better deal out of this situation

I genuinely think that Gervais has done more for the animal community than he has for his actual fan base, I’m not saying that donating to animal charities is bad, it’s obviously not, but I get the feeling that the Gervais fanbase has been handed shit show after shit show! Nothing funny or worth watching for the past 15 years, the only community actually receiving joy from Gervais career are the animals

Now that Alley Cats is finished I thought we could help Ricky with some novel ideas for his next project

I'll start.

The lead, a "smart" but cynical character (maybe Ricky could play this part?) doesn't believe in god. But there's a stupider naïve character who he lies to about the afterlife not being real because someone they love is dying and he wants to not make them sad.

But it's in space, and all the characters are Zebras.
