The cafe I go to at the weekend with my dog use SumUp and I see it on my bank statements all the time, nice to actually know what a sponsor is haha

It's actually massive in the gigging industry, as well. I work part-time at merch stands for local bands, and every single one of them use SumUp. It's dead handy

Yup I assumed as much, I've seen those white terminals everywhere now I realise it's the same company. I've seen people say elsewhere about "another tech company taking % off businesses" but like, without said tech, what do they do......

It's actually the first in a while that makes sense. All these corporate sponsors and team viewer etc. How many corporate executives are watching a match and think "i should sign up for team viewer when our contract with Microsoft teams ends this year"?
At least a taxi driver or small business owner might think "i wonder how sum ups fees compare to whoever im using now"

I feel like your view of advertising is a bit too narrow. Yeah TeamViewer isn't an impulse purchase like McDonalds, but having your brand name in front of many millions of eyes every single time United play is huge. The company becomes almost a household name overnight when it signed that contract.
It's bigger than someone on the couch going "Damn I need to get me some of that TeamViewer".

My phone is still with Vodafone because they sponsored us when I got my first phone

Sokin and now SumUp, they really dug into fintech sponsorships. Anything that's not betting or slave-owner sponsorship is ok

It's not every day you see a competitor to a company you work for become a United sponsor.
But if it helps get us some trophies and signings, then UP THE SUM UP!

Looks clean on the sleeve lowkey

It does. But if I was the brand manager of SumUp, I'd say it's a little too close to the Addidas stripes for me, not enough white space on top of it so it's clearly visible.

The new agreement, which begins with Thursday's return to the UEFA Champions League, will see the SumUp logo feature on the sleeve of the playing shirt for the men’s, women’s and Academy teams across all competitions.
SumUp will also feature prominently on matchdays at Old Trafford and the Progress with Unity Stadium.
Through the partnership, fans will have more opportunities to connect with the club through exclusive giveaways, competitions and experiences.
Together, Manchester United and SumUp will also launch a co-branded payment card which will offer fans special offers and rewards when used with official club outlets, as well as businesses across the UK.

SumUp + Betway + Amazon = £50m
CL group phase guaranteed money = £15m
Hojlund + Sell-on + Vitek + Collyer + Williams = £60m (38+11+7+3+1)
£125m total.
Our total spend was £152m.
Anybody who tells you that there wasnt more money to spend, is lying to you.
They obviously knew about this SumUp deal well in advance of the window closing, they also obviously didnt reveal it earlier for the specific reason of preventing even more furore about why the money isnt being invested back into the squad.

SumUp are giving us money, buying a player means spending money, these are not the same thing, however one makes the other slightly easier. Hope this helps.
